In 1996 we started off with a 4-3 win at home to Bristol City, then were near bottom till Christmas before a great run saw us mid-table. It will take time to stabilise in this division and a decent midfielder will have to be brought in. Start moaning yet.... Get real. I love GFC
Remember that, a last minute Lennie Piper goal, if Im not correct. I remember us poaching him for the Wombles who were furious as he was the next big thing, anyone an idea what happened to him? As for negativity, I think if one checked the 'boards' for every of the 92 clubs in the country, there will always be people moaning, isn't that firstly what supporting your team and having a view is all about, and secondly football in general. If we all blindly acquiesce to the clubs we support, football would be a very boring pastime.
gfc1234 I am sure that, whilst you might not contribute with further posts, you'll not resist viewing. There may be many things that make me despondent. Injustice is always topical. (STH ?) Negativity is not great - but then misery has always sought company ! The way that many people deal with negativity is to be unsympathetic, or worse - apathetic. You obviously care enough to want to have your say. I admire that fact. I am probably the most pessimistic optimist when it relates to the fortunes of GFC, so I'm not sure that I can believe that we will be promoted this season - although in an earlier thread I started, I did suggest some optimism. Do not be too concerned about negativity - be grateful that you are passionate enough to care, and voice an opinion. You & I may not have always agreed with each other - but I will always engage with a dissenter - as long as reasoned argument is offered - without any nastiness. Eventually I hope to succeed where Einstain failed - in actually getting you all to see that I am alwaysright. gfc1234 - you can go to any form of social media and find negativity. Although I'm sure that not606 is no worse than any other. However, we also need to remember, negativity is also a form of debate. I think the world will finally have become a very sad place if we ban forms of negativity, even if this early in the season. The varied emotions of a human being, the highs & the lows. Your style of posting at times although harmless tends to be of a style that can also be seen as creating provocation. You may not realise it but you do. Can that be classed as a form of negativity, in the same way that wums do to create multiple accounts, to hide behind a different persona to get a bite. Hopefully your be back to tell us you was right about the promotion thing...or maybe we'll just keep a look out for your next account...lol...remind me, what number you on now? I guess you will not be responding to me though because as you say...that was your last post...awaiting bite...
gfc1234, I could very well be one of the people you refer to, I will call crap, crap, yet I will equally praise the good when I see it. I won't apologise for telling the truth as I see it and if that upsets you, so be it, I will be sorry to see you go but feel there is a duty for the people who are lucky enough to attend matches to give a fair review for those exiles who can't. MA is quite capable of giving the rose tinted everyone gave me all they had drivel, I try to give a more balanced view/idea of what went on during the match. "Negativity" I don't think so, "fair review" absolutely" I want the team to be successful and put up a good show, having watched all but 2 of the pre-season games and both the games since, we are not up to the task and require a player with the quality to change a game. That view is not trying to be negative and I will continue to support the team win, lose, or draw, I just hope MA can see the problems and acts before things go to far.
