    Current League positions:

    16 QPR 33 Played 31pts -18 GD
    17 Wigan 33 Played 31pts -26 GD
    18 Bolton 32 Played 29pts -29 GD
    19 Blackburn 33 Played 28pts -25 GD
    20 Wolves 33 Played 22pts -39 GD

    Remaining fixtures

    WOLVES

    Sunderland (A)
    Man City (H)
    Swansea (A)
    Everton (H)
    Wigan (A)

In truth, it’s not easy to see where even a single point could come from those games for Wolves. Sunderland and Swansea both play far better at home than away, Man City will need (and get) the win, Everton will possibly be gearing up for an FA Cup final and will want to stay ahead of Liverpool in the league, and Wigan could well need the points themselves. Sorry to the Black Country guys, but I reckon Wolves are already down.

My prediction – 20th, with between 22 and 25 points.

    BLACKBURN

    Swansea (A)
    Norwich (H)
    Spurs (A)
    Wigan (H)
    Chelsea (A)

Blackburn’s run in is a little better, but they have to travel to Swansea, Spurs and Chelsea, and so I’d look at their two home games as must win to even stand a chance. And as one of these is against Wigan and the other against a Norwich side that battle for everything, I can’t see more than four or five points from their remaining games. Which isn’t enough to save them.

    My prediction – 19th, with 32 or 33 points.

    BOLTON

    Swansea (H)
    Villa (A)
    Sunderland (A)
    Spurs (H)
    WBA (H)
    Stoke (A)

Bolton may (on paper) have the easiest of the run-ins. They have a game in hand, but this is against Spurs, who are still looking to pick up every point and secure that final Champions League spot. Sunderland and Villa away will not be easy, and they have to go to a Stoke side that have shown good home form recently. I can see them maybe picking up enough points, but the key game is the first home game against Swansea. If they meet the side that we played last night, they could win and build on the confidence this brings. If they fail to win, however, it could all be over for them in their next three games. And I can’t see Swansea playing that poorly again.

However, my prediction – 17th, with 35 points (on goal difference).

    WIGAN

    Arsenal (A)
    Fulham (A)
    Newcastle (H)
    Blackburn (A)
    Wolves (H)

Three really big games coming up for Wigan. They will need to maintain the level of performance that they showed last night, and they simply don’t appear to have the players to do that. Al-Habsi will need to be on top form in goal for them, because they do let other teams have far too many chances. And they will need to see a change in fortune when the contentious decisions are made. And then they have Blackburn and Wolves at the death, both of whom will be hoping that there’s more than Pride still to play for. Pride itself can be a great motivator though.

My prediction - `18th with 35 points (on goal difference) because I see them shipping more goals than Bolton.

    And finally…

    QPR

    WBA (A)
    Spurs (H)
    Chelsea (A)
    Stoke (H)
    Man City (A)

A lot rides on the aims and aspirations of the teams we are playing. Spurs could be facing a Cup Final when we play them, or they could have ‘just’ 4th place to aim for. Chelsea play us on the back of an FA Cup semi final, an away trip to Arsenal, and the little matter of a two-legged tie against Barcelona. Man City could be left in 2nd place when we meet them. There are too many unknown variables to really be certain how our games will go. However, if we play like we did last night, we have a great chance of beating WBA and Stoke, and probably picking up a draw from one of the other games.

That would give us 38 points and 16th place. I’d happily take that now and head to the beach....

    Good stuff Level 42:

It will change I am certain of that so don't pack your hot pants and roller boots yet William.

Wolves have to be down, Wigan must fold against Arsenal and Newcastle and The Jerk Chickens have to play Wigan so something has to give plus I can see Wolves beating Wigan.

Wigan, Wolves and Blackburn for me ... if we lose heavily at WBA like the weather it will all change on here.

Its five games and we should be looking at getting 15 points

I agree with West London Willy except I think you'll get a point less so 37 points. Bolton will get 40 points I think

It's possible - as I said, I reckon it all depends on whether they get a win against Swansea. If they do, they could pick up enough points to survive by some distance, because the confidence will take a boost. If not, then they risk losing further ground on us and Wigan, and everything then becomes much more fraught.

Wolves are sunk and Blackburn took a major hit losing to Liverpool the way they did, after coming back so strongly. I can't see them digging themselves out now. That leaves one from three, and I just hope that our upturn in form will see us over the line, whilst Wigan have relied too heavily on al-habsi - who for me has been their clear player of the season - to keep them in games. I can't see their goal difference doing them any favours in the final mix. That's why I'm picking Bolton rather than Wigan to survive (at the moment! )

I think it's very hard for a QPR fans to have a fair assessment, the same would apply for a Blackburn, Villa or Wigan fan. You have the emotional tie attached to what is happening so I will give you an outside perspective. Having said that, it's not a bad shout Willy.

    WOLVES
    Sunderland (A)
    Man City (H)
    Swansea (A)
    Everton (H)
    Wigan (A)

Doomed! 22 points, just can't see them getting another point.

    BLACKBURN
    Swansea (A)
    Norwich (H)
    Spurs (A)
    Wigan (H)
    Chelsea (A)

Hard to say but I think going down. It would not surprise me if they took 5 points from their first 3 games but it will not be enough.

    BOLTON
    Swansea (H)
    Villa (A)
    Sunderland (A)
    Spurs (H)
    WBA (H)
    Stoke (A)

Doomed - Nearly as bad as Wolves 32 points at best

    WIGAN
    Arsenal (A)
    Fulham (A)
    Newcastle (H)
    Blackburn (A)
    Wolves (H)

I can see at least 2 wins from these games so a minimum of 37 points

    QPR
    WBA (A)
    Spurs (H)
    Chelsea (A)
    Stoke (H)
    Man City (A)

Have the best current form of the teams in the drop zone and if they can maintain that form will be ok. Spurs might not be as hard as it would have appeared a month or so ago, their form is dire. Anything can happen at the Bridge and Stoke at home is likely to produce 3 points. I'll say 36 points - so safe <ok> Amazing what 3 wins can do for a team huh?

For me Wigan are the relegation escape artist kings and I cant see them going down. They will pull a few results out of the bag as I think of all the managers down the bottom of the league Martinez is tactically very astute whereas Connor, Kean and Coyle are inexperienced in this situation.

Mortlake, 3 names you mention give me a lot of hope.

    Connor
    Keane
    Coyle

All 3 are in dire straits, and new(ish) to the position of being in complete control of a club. This, more than anything else, gives me hope - dare I say confidence - that we'll survive. Martinez has been there and escaped before, and Hughes has 3-4 seasons under his belt all told (I think). He will see us safe.

    I have:

    Blackburn 6 pts = 34

    Wigan 8 pts = 39

    Bolton 8 pts = 37

    QPR 7 pts = 38

That makes us 17th, just staying up!

I was probably a bit generous to most teams
