I hope he doesn't go this Summer, he's only now starting to look a really good player.

He's always looked good in bursts, more often than not he's anonymous though.
I'd like to keep him, but I wouldn't cry if he left as long as we get a good price for him.

That's true. But 2 of his efforts were similar to his goals he scored for us - very similar.

The coach even told him in training to 'play like you do for Liverpool'. I think up until then he was scared to play freely in case he got it wrong. Now he's being asked to do that at International level he's only going to get better. Only issue is, more eyes are watching.

We're in no place to sell our best players, regardless of how inconsistent or injury prone they are.

And if PSG/Barce offer something ridiculous like £40m?

    No.

Given that we have no European football, and we need to rely on finding 'hidden gems' rather than more established players, we cannot sell our best players.

There's no point in getting £40m and not being able to spend on the players we cant attract.

Is that really ridiculous though, in such a ridiculously rich (rising rapidly) sport?

Utd just paid 30mil for a defender with 40ish pro games (I think).

I guess not when you put it like that, but £40m for someone as inconsistent as Coutinho is a good deal.

However I agree that we shouldn't be selling him.

I guess that's a typo and it's meant to be £400m because £40m would be closer to "undervaluation" than "ridiculous"

Watched the game, yep Haiti were poor but you can only beat who's in front of you.

He'd have had at least eight goals if others in the team never went for goal themselves(and failed)when he was better placed to score, he's in the shop window in Copa and there are many in his own squad who will unsettle him, let's hope after the tournament he's still focused on his LFC career.

To be honest Coutinho's inconsistency has a lot to do with our midfield. We get better players, he'll be much more consistent.

3 goals is three goals even against Villa. Some players in the team failed to score one<ok>

Man Utd just spent £30m on a 23 year old who's only played 40 top flight matches in his entire career.

Coutinho is 23 and one of the best players in the PL (PFA Premier League Team of the Year 2014–15, UEFA Europa League Squad of the Season 2015–16)

And you think £40m would be a "ridiculous" fee?

I agree, he's getting better each season and will be very important for us next season, replacing him would be difficult.

I'm not bothered by what United do, I'm not sure why you're so bothered.

Ok so we may get more than £40m for Coutinho if we stood firm as we really don't need to sell him.

However is he worth that? Nope, not in my opinion anyway, if he was more consistent then maybe, but he isn't.

Like sky says though, improve the midfield and Coutinho will improve too.
