late 70's and early 80's. Used to get Select coaches from the top road in Horden and park at the Marina. Walk up to the Methodist church and have pie, peas and chips. Then go stand in the Fullwell end and sing my heart out. Didn't do the pub as I was just a young lad.

The football wasn't the greatest but I couldn't sleep on a Friday night thinking about going to the game the next day. Watching Barry "tree trunks for legs" Siddall take goal kicks about 30 feet from where i was stood.

The noise used to set the hairs on my neck standing.

Jesus I would like to go back to those times.

Vince, went to a few away games during that period and the atmosphere was just as good even though it was a smaller band of fans. I think the only place I was worried about my safety was Leeds, ****in head cases.

Traveled down there in a Magogs removal van clinging on to the ropes they normally used to secure furniture. That was scarier than any Leeds thugs.

Thought Alan Durbans teams always threatened to produce good footy just never quite materialised. Like Sunderland tho the potential was there.

Agreed mate. I would also add the first few seasons at the SOL too, they were special times...

Not my outright favourite but the Keane era was sublime at points and certainly our most entertaining since PR

For me the Roy Keane season we went up.

That Burnley match with Carlos Edwards thunderbolt was an unbelievable day/night.

Also remember us singing "we're gonna win the league" when we were only second or third and a few points behind top but you just knew it was going to happen.

Peter Reid era for me. Only managed 1 or 2 at roker park. Can't remember much from that but remember the sol. Ajax, Quinn's header against city. That Phillips goal against Chelsea is still the best goal to have ever been scored anywhere by anyone.
