Every one has been special for lots of different reasons. We have had to work very hard to achieve every promotion, it is never easy. But, maybe because of my age, or because we had such a bad time for the last four years before the arrival of SC, I do not remember any that matched the swagger that this team has. Goals from all over the side, a grim determination to win and a team of very good pros who have worked so hard for each other. Level headed to the extent that they did not go beserk at the end like some others we know, pleased to have gained promotion but still focussed on the title. And to seal promotion with a 6-0 demolition of a good hard League One side, who were good enough to dump Chelsea out of the FA Cup, on their own patch. Roy of The Rovers in the Tiger Comic could not have bettered this night. Enjoy it all you City fans, wherever you are. This was a special day!
I've seen 6 or maybe 5 promotions in my time, but on this occasion the addition of the Paint Pot Trophy, the likelihood that we will be (deserving) Champions, and the emphatic way that we sealed promotion last night makes it feel even better to me than when AD got us to the old 1st Division as Runners Up and that's saying summat !
What a fantastic season it's been - I think when you go through the bad times (remember SoD!!) it makes you appreciate these all the more Now for the title!!
Steve Cotterill has brought reality back to Ashton Gate and along with it he has earned a huge amount of respect from his critics and all the posters on this site. The task has been completed with the lowest number squad in the division and a bunch of players who show commitment every time they put on their city shirt and, above all, clearly play for their boss and teammates. I am fortunate to live in my version of paradise and today I woke up to a beautiful sunny day and realised that my lot in life is really good, and to finally clinch promotion in such style last night has added to the euphoria that is my life today. Drinking coffee from my special Bristol City cup and smiling from ear to ear is starting to drive Ann to distraction but the happy mood will continue until my Victor Meldrew persona reappears, but I am not expecting a visit from him anytime in the near future. Being a Bristol City supporter has given me, and a lot of other people, much grief over the years but this season has provided much relief for the beleaguered and proven beyond any doubt that if you approach the problems with common sense and dedication then the results will come your way eventually. The good news is that we only have one more goal to achieve and that will happen on Saturday and just wish I could be there in person to enjoy the event, and celebrations, but Radio Bristol will offer me the chance to join in on my own level. The only regret that I have is that I will not be able to turn and shake "cidered's" hand to celebrate, as we did at Wembley, and end a great season on a personal thank you to him for getting Ann and my final tickets to allow me to cross another thing off my "bucket list". Watching Bristol City at Wembley in front of a crowd of 72,317 was beyond my belief that I would ever get the chance, and winning was the icing on the cake. Good on you cidered and we will meet again.
I don't think anyone expected a season as good as we are having! Could still make 101 points which would be the cherry on top. My favourite quote right now "Chelsea 2:4 Bradford Bradford 0:6 City This is why I love football"
who's betting on SC after were champions saturday, saying right thats champions now we want over a hundred points?
of course he will, that's why where we are, never gives the feeling of full satisfaction, though Tuesday must have come pretty close!
