My departure from QPR did come as shock, says Simpson By Leicester Mercury | Posted: October 11, 2014 He may have been shocked by his departure from Queens Park Rangers but defender Danny Simpson believes he has landed on his feet by signing for Leicester City. Having been a regular in Harry Redknapp's side last season as they won the play-offs, Simpson was expecting to start this season with the Hoops only to be told he was being sold. He admits it was a shock but now he has joined City he feels the move has turned out even better for him. "Football is football and you never know what will happen, but it was a shock when QPR told me I was leaving," said Simpson, who made his City debut at Crystal Palace. However, he is yet to feature at the King Power Stadium. "I pretty much played every game last year and I was expecting to start this season, but it has worked out better for me because it is a club going in the right direction from top to bottom. "They are a great set of lads here and I wanted to be in a team that is progressing and wants to do well in the Premier League. "I think we have shown that already. "It has been a good start. To beat Manchester United at any time is great but to do it in the way we did, it was tremendous. "The home form is the key and we are making home a bit of a fortress, especially with the fans. "The atmosphere at the KP has been class. It has been electric and I want to be involved on the pitch and feel that." Simpson admits it has been easy to settle in at City, especially as so many of the Leicester squad graduated through the United academy, just as he did. "I knew a few of the lads anyway so it has been easy to integrate," he said. "Everyone is so close and so together. It is nice to walk into a group like that. "Everyone works hard on the pitch and off it. Everyone demands 100 per cent from each other and it is easy to walk into that environment. Once you have that, you have a great chance of doing well. "Sometimes to walk in it can take a while to develop that spirit. They have already got it and I have walked into it. "It has been quite easy to join in. Sometimes when you don't make your debut you are itching and itching but everyone has been great to me. "I understand I have to be patient. Ritchie De Laet has been doing a fantastic job in the team. "All the lads have been great." If we assume he is kinda genuine not being a c u next tuesday, or bitter....or is that just a ridiculous assumption - still they sound positive and excited about being in the Prem. When we went up we need three defenders. A young centre back to partner Ned and cover for Yun and Simpson. What did we do, change our system for three games only to change it back. Bring in another older centre back to pair the new young centre back who should be playing with Ned and sold our only right back. I am not sure if we will stay up. But one thing for sure we didn't build on the team we had which we should have done
Spot on. We weren't overstocked with players who could make the 'step up' (or at least give it ago), so the few we did have should've all been built around. We hadn't learned our lessons though so blew all hint of continuity out of the water
We are short a right back, so selling Simpson was daft, but let's not build him up too much. He is right back cover at Leicester, hasn't had a kick yet, and that's about the most he can expect at Prem level, decent pro, limited player. And of course still has his assault charges to deal with.
Maybe there were a lot of other reasons we don't know about I thought he looked solid but out of his depth going forward which we need to do ... Attack teams Harold is in a mess because he has tried to build from the back ... His usual formula it's backfired big time If we invite teams onto us then we will continue to fail IMO only by scoring goals will we compete I doubt if anyone on here would disagree we don't look like getting back into any of the games we have lost It's down to Adel and Kranky
