At the age of 7 years and 9 months and after a good 12 to 18 months of asking (pestering), I am finally taking her to a game at the SOL tomorrow. Its her debut.

We have tickets through her school and I have given my season card to my mate who is taking his daughter (age 10 but not from the same school) to her first game. I have been going to the games with my pal since we were 17 years old (31 years through thin, thinner and transparent).

I have our packed lunch ready and will be arriving at the ground early to let her soak in the atmosphere and I just hope Samson and Delilah are there or my life is over. Lol

If we win (and I sincerely think we will) maybe this will be the start of her big SAFC adventure. If we lose and its dull as dishwater, maybe she will be put off for life - I'm not sure what would be best for her actually.

2 - 0 to the lads and a winning start for my little princess. I'm excited for her more than the game or for me.

Hope you's both have a good day C'est.

Come to think of it hope all of us long suffering Sunderland fans have a good day.
My optimism has returned after Tuesday night and I will settle for an injury time own goal to give us a 1-0 win and hopefully a bit of confidence.

Brilliant mate. Regardless of the result it will be a day you remember fondly

I took my nephew to his first game last season, the game against qpr. He was lucky enough to get his photo taken with Delilah before the kick off, so he was as happy as a sand boy.

What I will remember is the tune that was playing as we walked out of the concourse and into the ground - welcome to the jungle by guns and roses

    Have a good one

To be fair mate maybe she will bring us some good luck tomorrow, still think we'll win but it should get the lass hooked on SAFC. Not sure if that's child cruelty or not mind. :D

She has been a member of the 24/7 club since she was a week old and has had 2 or 3 tops and numerous cuddly toys from the club shop already and of course she knows her old man is a sunderland nutcase but I have never pushed her to go to games.

Like many on here its a very special day and one I will treasure even more than my own first game. That may sound a little bizarre but I am very excited about taking her and if we do win, I'll be asking for a whip round to buy her a season ticket? Lol

    Cest,

    have a great one mate.

I bet your daughter's excited - and you even more!

I took my bairn to his first game when he seven. I was fearing the worst as we were **** and had lost the first four league games of the season. But fortunately we won 2-0. I am of course talking about the West Brom game when Keane was about to take over and our fortunes changed.

On the way back when we were changing in Newcastle station, I heard him singing to himself "I'm Sunderland till I die" and knew I had done the parental bit right!

Talking of which, he went to his first away game last year (Wigan) and has now decided that the family bit of the ground is for babies and we have to go in the "singing bit" for the games we're coming back for at Christmas (Southampton away, Man ****ty home, Spurs home), so you lot can expect me to be on the scrounge for info. about the new ground set-up after the game tomorra.

    Have a great day Cest.

Are you making a rod for your own back? LOL.

If we play well and win she will become a lucky talisman and must therefore go to all future games, if we bomb she could develop that Sunderland complex we have all experienced over the years, but she could blame you for taking her to the wrong game and the "just wait until the next game" hope will kick in.

Either way good luck to you two and the kids, and whatever happens it will live with her for life. 20-30 years from now the Cest syndrome will live on.

I don't think there's ever an occasion where I'd hope Sunderland win (you know how it is), but I hope she enjoys her day.

My two girls (19 and 17) had tickets for Nikki Minaj last week and sold them when it clashed with the Brugge game. I was over the moon when they did that, without any provoking from me. It's in the blood. Probably the same with your daughter.

What I'd like to say is I hope you win for her, but............ I can't. Does that make me a bad person?

She'll be fine Cest, like our Niall says, he was 4 at his first. I guess both, like many others are now destined to a life of sporting misery, lol.
It was mate but we missed the winner because Connors granda offered us a lift home.

All the best for today mate, i'm sure it will all go well for your daughter and who knows? she may turn into our new lucky mascot. Here's hoping so.

I bet she'd like to get there early and see the players come in? my son did the first time i took him to the match, made him feel special when the players were waving to the kids and told all his mates about it when he got home. Cost me a small fortune after that mind as everytime we went he had to visit the club shop for photo's of his new idols, ha-ha!!!! great times mate, soak it all up and enjoy.
