Just thinking about the championship so far- Apart from Newcastle,Norwich,Brighton no other has really stood out so far. So three places up for grabs in the playoffs i think. Can we take one,yes we certainly can. Neither Newcastle, or Norwich, blew us away, just the one goal to the respective teams, scored against us,Brighton tanked us 4-0 last season when we were struggling at the wrong end of the league. Saturday will be another yardstick too how far we have come, will be a good indication against a side bang in form.Yes we have improved ten fold so should be a cracker. If we can stay around the top six until January, and then pull a couple of quality players out of the hat,one at least being a top striker, then we really could go for it, the dream of premiership football in a sold out Ashton Gate every week would be a truly amazing experience. The dream is there for BCFC to grasp will it happen time will tell.
The fact that you are talking seriously about City in Premiership terms means a massive shift from this time last season, when we were staring down the barrel. Of course it is possible, but to achieve it will mean players like Pack, Reid, Brownhill, Paterson, O'Dowda, Bryan, Engval and Smith delivering their career best for the remainder of the season, because Tomlin and Abraham on their own will not carry enough of a threat to fire us to promotion. Can we see that happening ?
If we stay clear of injuries/suspensions (take note Mr Tomlin to the latter please !) then we might exceed my expectations of a mid table finish. But there are a lot of tough games to come, especially the next 2 and there will plenty of other teams with the same aspirations. I'd also expect Villa to claim a top 6 finish. Despite their underwhelming start, they aren't that far behind us.
One big push to the seasons end from every player that pulls the shirt on during the game,i think we are weak down the left, and reinforcements required up front. It is in the clubs hands, the fans are turning up.just need to hang in there, with a couple of good signings the dream could be on.
City will do ok but this Tomlin love in???? he was **** Saturday till Bryan came on. players help him play. team game.
Newcastle and Norwich were settling in ! DRAW AGAINST NORWICH would have been massive .... we would have been 5th just 1 point apart! Saturday will be a real yardstick .... if we go out from the start and perform the way we have we will be murdered with no way back ..... we need to sort our "TEAM" in the next 3 or 4 games or it will be curtains for top 6
yep the gaffer needs to start putting a settled side out,we also need to be playing for 90 minutes, not 45 minutes,or in some cases 20 minutes, as we have witnessed this season. Big game Saturday,a great yardstick.
After the desperate season we had last year, anything from mid-table upwards would be an achievement in my eyes (don't care how much money has been spent)! If we make it into playoffs, would be a bonus and a massive improvement. I don't think I will be as disappointed as some if we don't. Again I don't care what some think, but think LJ's doing a decent job and will only get better with experience.. Couple of strikers on a permanent is required in Jan IMO.
Great that we are 6th so far but only a few points left would see us in the bottom half. Its an extremely tight division outside the top 2 or 3 where everyone is capable of beating each other. There are no easy games and its a good standard to watch. I still think that we will finish top half but lack a necessary consistency in cementing a play off place. There is still too much losing possession and playing a side ball pass too often. It needs a greater creativity if we are to be considering Premiership football, as that league is totally unforgiving.
After being in a relegation battle last season I'm quite happy to have a comfortable Championship season without any relegation threat. If we can flirt with the play offs then marvelous but I wont be devastated like some if we peter our to mid table mediocrity. I much prefer the small steps to progress route rather than going all guns blazing
What about the points we have needlessly gained, Derby, Blackburn, Rotherham and Burton to name a few
Wouldn't be a bit surprised if there were a few calling for LJ's head if we don't make the playoffs........mark my words!!
know what you are trying to say but "luckily" or deservedly would be more apt! coming from behind is what football is all about someone has to score first ..if it is not you and you finally win ..fantastic if it is you and you lose or draw ..cr** ...
Giving away the first goal is never a good way to win and we need to cut that bad part from our game, and then perhaps the dream may come true - who knows?
