Pinched this from OTIB - best players I've seen play for City. Basso Collier Hunter Scott Gow Hartley Elliott Cole Cheese Whitehead Note, struggling with a RB. We've had plenty of good LBs. Think I'll pick Gerry Sweeney.
That's pretty much me too I think, Like I said with RP. would have to get Jacki in there, maybe for Tainton or Mann
Many more I’ve enjoyed watching over the years, Taylor , Smudge, Cole , Jacki , Murray, even Wilbraham ,to name a few but the ones I listed did it in the first division .
I thought he was a brilliant player and I was there that dreadful game when we heard his leg snap all across the ground.
Used to go in there now and again along with the House that Jack built!! Then dropped in to Evelyns for fish n chips and scumpies!! Kings Head Bridgwater Rd was used as my local back mid to late 70s, Piss Starlight 20p a pint if I remember!! My actual local but rarely used was Golden Cockerel
That was my local for many years as I lived around the corner and played for Highridge on the field behind! Saw the pub built and demolished!! Houses now.
Yes I would, purely subjective, some would have players like Jacki for one good game in every 6, yes it was a great game but never enough, I don't have the same rose tinted memories of Jacki as a lot of other people. My biggest conflict to be honest was leaving out Brian Clark, he is the one player in all my years of support that really did come back to bite us in the arse, how we ever allowed him to leave is a total mystery. I can't even find a place for John Atyeo whom I watched for 10 years.
I don’t remember Atyeo, nor Brian Clarke, I know Atyeo was probably the best player to play for us, no one else has played for England for a start , record scorer too, but was before my time.
Being totally blunt about Hunter IMHO, unlike other older players from that era, yes he was a great player but to be honest, I am not sure that his more 'robust' ways would transfer to the modern game and lack of pace. Flint goals are always going to be a bonus, of course a young Sean Taylor (pre BCFC) might be a contender.
Brought up on Cutler Rd until I flew the nest (1979) Parents were there from when those houses were built, right up till Mum passed away 2015!! Had some great friends there and around Bedminster Down (senior school), still in touch with a few but not seen for years!!
