Lads if you have a spare minute head over to the smb and look for the old timers thread. It's going to be his last game this Sunday due to health issues.

Really sorry I can't post a link but I'm on my phone, if anyone finds it an can post a link will be much appreciated.

    Very moving post.

No how he feels when I can't get. It is harder when you have to sit at home unable to shout encouragement

    Very sad.

Would like this pinned up on the dressing room wall and see if the lads can turn up and actually put a performance in for both old timer and us.

very sad story, hope this awful news gets passed on to the club by meyler, this fan has been there for the club all his life, the least the club should do for him is to acknowledge his loyalty and embrace him with respect, maybe a letter of thanks

Can empathise with the old un as I have had so much from SAFC over 60+ yrs. Hardest thing to take was the 1958 relegation when we went down by .328 of a goal. Goal average was taken then so one goal less let in or one more scored would have put Pompey down in our place. Next season at Roker we had a relegation game against Scunthorpe Utd.

For a period in the 50s we competed with the best because we had great finances through great support and players were all paid the same. The best teams won the league or cup because it was a level playing field and teams had to be built not bought.

Not many teams relished coming to Roker and the only way to seee the game was to go to the ground.

Lump in throat stuff this like. Hope the lads can put a performance in for what this man deserves. Stuff like this really does make you realise that without the fans football really would mean nowt.
