Firstly I'm no mega successful punter as my tips on here confirm! Secondly I don't bet in huge amounts. So why oh why oh why have Ladbrokes restricted me after just 4 days of betting with them <laugh>

Basically I opened an account with them last Friday, purely to back Nambour at 10/11. As I stated on the daily thread last week in my eyes he was a 1/3 shot, and he duly obliged at an SP of 1/4! I had a number of other bets on the Sunday which won in Ireland but also had 2 losers as well. Had one bet on the Monday won, again the early price beat the SP well with a horse called William H Bonney. On the Tuesday I tried to back a horse but was told the maximum stake was £0.83. Tried again on Wednesday, was allowed £2 this time..

Anyone else had such a fleeting experience, it's an absolute joke to be restricted after a few bets won. Without going into detail on the amounts won, I'd say I made around £600 - £800 (profit).

If only they'd let me put a bet on they'd clearly get it back by new year no doubt! I recently got restricted by Bet365 there, hence shopping around more, I expect this is a factor. I emailed Ladcrooks tonight to see what they'll say but has anyone else had a restricted account 'unrestricted'? I know you can open up accounts in different names to get around this but I'd rather not do that. Anyone know any ways to avoid being 'tracked' etc by them, is it simply a case of blocking cookies etc or are we all on some database the bookies share to see whose a winner and loser? Anyone else have experience of getting restricted after only a few bets? Seems a strange business plan to me, to assume a punter is winning based on a few days?

No way really of getting past it- I have had account closed by bet365 and my friend has just yesterday had one restricted after making £900 in one day max they would let him put on was like £2 on a 3/1 shot today! And I have heard of others having accounts closed by b365 - I rarely use Ladbrokes as they are shocking

Paddy Power - minimal AP bets offered.
Bet365 - minimal AP bets offered.
Skybet - small AP bets offered but can increase on a daily basis.
    Boylesports - booted oot!
    BetVictor - booted oot!

That's me left with Stan James, Totesport, Ladbrokes, Coral and Hills.

I presume my restricted options have been caused by my betting patterns; virtually no day of race wagering! In recent years I have only placed AP bets which I judge can be examined and interrogated by the firms thus the restrictions and exits.

Ultimately if a firm is not making money from a customer and can work out that AP bets are placed only if they are offering the best price they will soon ascertain that a 'scattergun' approach is being taken with the punter looking for about a 30% to 40% profit from a race. In my case the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

    Ho-hum!!!!

Being an unsuccessful punter, getting a bet on is not really a problem for me. But one springs to mind. A few years ago Stan James were offering a special bet of Big Bucks and Quevega to win at the festival at 5/1 in about January time, max bet £50. I opened an account, took the offer, then withdrew my winnings in March. Went to have a bet in April at Aintree and was reduced to a pittance. Ridiculous, being that it was their offer i was taking up.

True Beefy, have been told before that bookmakers hate you withdrawing all your winnings straight away.

Good luck with gaining a reply beef- I had a Trixie which included Germany when the game got called off due to the Paris attacks- still awaiting a reply! Had two moans since saying how poor their service is, still nothing. This thread actually triggered my memory that I still have no reply.

Ironically, this was the week after I won 615 on a football acca. Dreadful bookie, the only reason I bet with them is for confident bets, as winnings feel so much better!

I can't believe what I read with these restricted accounts.

It needs to be ****ing illegal. If you are prepared to lay a bet, then you are gambling. If you don't wanna take the risk of losing, you close your ****ing business, not your ****ing punters.

    Scandalous with a capital S.

    Corrupt to the core.

True; Ladbrokes even have a fairly skinny amount you can withdraw on any single day. Taking account of my betting pattern this is a f.....n' nuisance if Ladbrokes have been 'hit' after, say, the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Trust me if the bookies just allowed everyone to bet what they wanted and have as much on it as they liked they'd genuinely go skint. When you put thousands and thousands of prices up on a sports book it is impossible to avoid making mistakes. So they have to restrict the customers who consistently pounce on those mistakes.

Wether you think it's right or not, a bet is a 2 way thing, both sides have to agree with it. A bookies can't force you to back something you don't want to back, and you can't force a bookie to take a bet they don't want to take.

I've had many accounts closed and restricted, but I can understand the reason behind it having run my own bookmakers in the past, and I myself restricted anyone who was consistently betting large amounts on prices bigger than the exchanges where offering. As youll never make money off anyone who's doing that

No qualms with some of that Shergy but how is restricting someone after 4 days sensible on any level? Restrict long term winners, yes, I don't agree with the principle as there's enough losers around to more than cover the winners, but I get the business sense. Limiting someone after a handful of bets is showing none.

I don't disagree that 4 days is pretty quick, but you must have been showing all the tell tale signs of a shrewd operator. They don't just analyse your winners either, if you where beating the book on all your losers too, then they will anticipate that that's the type of business they are likely to get off you.

The other thing is your surname could match that of another restricted customer, and they may think your a relative putting on for them. After all most of Ireland have the same surname <laugh>

You can try speaking to them, but all I've ever got out of any bookies that I've questioned for being barred or restricted is that it was a trading decision. They never go into any detail about why they've done it

    This....is the Ladbrokes life.

They are the worst in the land, have been for as long as ive been near bookies.

With the guaranteed FOBT money they dont really care about taking bets on sports anymore.

They are rarely top price on anything, last time I had a bet in one of their shops was Lieutenant Colonel in a novice hurdle, few hundred to win, went out for a smoke before the race and when I came in and sat down with the runners at the start I was told the bet was cancelled. Wicklow Brave won on the snaff.
