Daryl Murphy is currently the top scorer in the Championship with 6 goals in 9 starts. Could he have done a job for us this year? Would he have finished the chances Joselu has had or would he not have been able to get in the same positions?

He's not as mobile and wouldn't do the pressing that Joselu has done up top on his own recently but I'd bet my bottom dollar he would have taken a few of the missed chancres so far.

Regardless good to see him doing well and he's scored against the mackems and boro so much love to him.

The issue is that Murph doesn't have the PL experience.

Played 70 odd games for the unwashed in the EPL but only managed 3 EPL goals by what I can find.

Still think he'd have converted most the chances Joselu has missed so far but hopefully Mitro gets his place back sooner rather than later.

I always said we should've held on to Murphy as a back up striker, didn't play that much last season, but always delivered when we needed him to, and I'm sure he would've this season.

Joselu might be a bit more "elegant" and have more recent Prem experience, but Murphy is more of an out and out scorer.

I'd rather have Murphy than Joselu. Say what you want about Murphy he does a solid job and can finish.

I was surprised we sold him. I think at that point Rafa was thinking we would have a few quality options in the door before the season started.

I'd rather have Joselu because apart from his finishing he's been good. He just needs confidence in front of goal. Give him a chance.

Also Joselu is 27 and Murphy is 34.

I think he has done pretty good also tbf. But he does need to get his finishing up to scratch.

As G4rd says Joselu's pressing when not in possession has been very good. He has dropped deeper frequently and won possession back. He's getting chances and some of them will go in. I'd still prefer Mitrovic up top though as I think he has that bit more quality.

His aim is so bad, I reckon Joselu's girlfriend is absolutely buggered

Joselu for me, is the more mobile of the two.

We couldn't play a game to suit murphy without totally ignoring the defensive side of our game. Joselu's got the extra run which may not be particularly fast, but is enough to move across the pitch. We can't have a statue for a striker in this league and, as much as I ****ing love Murphs, you gota get that ball at him.
Its basically finishing vs. getting in the right positions. Joselu finds his shooting boots and this would be a null conversation.
