That's three wins on the bounce - plenty of shots on goal and attacking intent and a goal for Matty Taylor. A splendid evening's work by DC and the players. They seem to be getting into their stride which is bloody marvellous. If we can get maximum points against Woking on Saturday (which will be a far sterner test than Nuneaton) then we'll be right in contention.
Should of scored more and we need really to finish these teams off but a good performance all round very pleased.
I did my little report in the match thread. Very impressed tonight. Massive step in the right direction. But we should be winning these games. Feet still firmly grounded for me. But im very happy at the same time. Issue is now our goal difference. We need to be averaging 3 goal per game from now on. We have managed it in the last 2 games. Looking at out GD now its +1. Now im happy that we are in the plus and not in minus for once. However Barnet is +17. Winning the last 3 games and scoring more freely now should hopefully make our final 3rd players more confident and should hopefully mean more goals.
Credit where due someone somewhere has been doing something right and confidence is now restored within the Team surely after the recent results. Now need to consolidate this and bury teams attack, attack, attack. If we're attacking the opposition has to defend, so therory is they wont have many scoring chances. Good 3 points as you can only beat the team you play even if they are managerless and again, Part Timers.
I enjoyed last night's game. We started against a very nervous side and took them apart with great passing and good runs to receive the passes in space. I'm sure that with a few more matches under our belt, someone is going to get hammered! There are a couple of areas where we could improve IMO. Given the space our defenders were given, I would prefer to see them pull the ball down and pass along the ground rather than always head the ball as far as possible back up field. Secondly when we are in the driving seat with good goal advantage, I feel we would be better to stick to a closer passing game. Last night with nothing to lose we gave the ball away too often with 'Beckham style long balls'. The third goal was how I would like to see us finish. What was it, two or three neat little passes in the box, before we scored? Having said that, a word for Nuneaton. Although they were outclassed, they continued to the end of the game trying their best to play neat and tidy football.
I agree with you all the way, particularly the bit about defenders getting hold of the ball and passing shorter - I also think the midfield should be told to come short to collect passes from the back four. Also think Mildenhall could throw it out more - short and long throws can be more accurate than kicks. Still would like to see the coaching staff demanding more of a passing game - it's there some of the time but I think it actually should stem from the keeper and back three/four.
