I will be really disappointed if we go for Malky. How many times have ex players gone on to manage an old club and failed.
Im praying we get Houghton, ideal for the job and i think he would slot into PLs role and we wouldnt notice a thing.

I don't want Malky purely in case it fails and it spoils my memory of him.

Same here sentiment has screwed up in past I wish people would pull their ****ing heads out of their arses! No time for experiments we need to mean business here, we need someone who has a battle plan and can motivate our players.

He understudied various managers for 10 years at Spurs his seen it all lots of bad managers as well some reasonably successful ones, knows which moves to make and which mistakes to avoid. Was never given the chance at Newcastle has battled out of the championship his the type of manager we need.

I think we need to totally forget that Malky played here and look only at his management record, passion, vision for the future, man management ability and all round tactical awareness in comparison to the other candidates. If he is still the best option then I welcome him. If not, then there is no place for sentiment if you want to be successful.

Hell, if sentiment were allowed to rule at Carrow Road our current CB paring would be Doherty and Nelson!!! Much loved, but seriously....

I agree about Hughton he is tactically good, although the squad he had with newcastle was good he left them in 11th place a much better achievement than could have been expected straight back in prem. I also think the point about how many games birmingham played last year shouldn't be forgotten with all the europa fixtures followed by league and a cup run he can obviously manage a squad well which we've seen especially to be vitally important. The only thing i disagree with him is giving Marlon King a contract I would not like to see anyone like him near norwich, ever.

If you want the best manager out there, & i believe Hughton is & he keeps us up next season £2.5m is small change & well worth the money.

Come on Norwich it all makes sence.

Well said! I can't deal with the nicey nice attitude some of our fans have it makes me feel psychically sick it's moronic and for doormats. We want winners being nice in this industry get's you nowhere it's a competition and it's brutal, people need to toughen up.

Oi Kenny! Leave The Doc alone! I'm just hoping whoever comes in has the sense to bring the big fella back and offer him another contract as Lambert had clearly lost the plot when he let him go ;)

Seriously though, I've come right round to the idea of Hughton, and reading more about him I'm coming to agreement that he's the man. Got chatting to a Brum fan today and they rate him massively. He used only 21 players all season and they only lost at home to Florist and Chelsea. And that's not even taking into account the job he did at Newcastle.

Yeah, stick my name in the Hughton camp as well <ok>

Chris Goreham tweeted this morning that Hughton had been sounded out by the club as their 'plan B' when and if Lambert left.

He's the man, I reckon, and I'd love him to bring Chris Burke with him.<ok>

Just had a look at who their assistant manager is. Its Colin Calderwood, who Grant Holt doesn't particularly like after their time together at Forest. Him wanting to leave could not be linked to that, could it?

I dont really have a preference on who it is as I trust McNally to get the right man. He will show no sentiment when it comes to the apointment. Rest assured, if Mackay gets it it will be because he was the best man for the job.

The only sentiment to take into account with bringing in Mackay is that he would have all the fans onside from day 1, but actually if there is one thing we should certainly have learned in the past few years it is that togetherness and unity is the key. With that in mind, whoever gets the job should have the full support of club and fans from day 1.

Why the fuss over the compensation?

We will receive ~£1m minimum for Lambert from Villa

That therefore makes it a maximum of £1.5m for a manager, who if successful, will be poached, and invoking compensation then, will recoup that money initially spent.

    IMO a sound investment.

Lets not go for the cheap option here, we know from painful experience how that pans out!

I think Holloway would do a great job for you. He's used to working with a small budget and has an eye for a player.
