He's right imo. However, he omits to mention that he never gave the lad the opportunity to play in his most effective position at United. As when he did pick him he played him deep.
There is nothing in that article that even comes close to saying "he thought he was getting a number 8". It's just made up ****, as usual. He, quite rightly, assumed that he wouldn't just be getting Fellaini and told to crack on with it. He is merely saying what we all know, United ****ed up in getting the players, not him.
Yeah headline seems to mislead there. Fellani is not and never will be a Lampard type player. He was most effective further forward where United already had a lot of good players (Rooney and Kagawa most notably). They needed more of a general midfielder, failed to get them and decided Fellani was better than no signings at all. Odd signing but the uproar if United had got no one....
