He's simply not up to the task. He's a decent enough Human Being and it's not nice to see him suffer in the way he clearly is. They shoot horses, don't they?
Got to agree with that, I would be fine getting beat but going out fighting but that was pathetic yesterday.
Do you reckon the unnamed source pish is actually a way of trying to deflect the blame? Give him enough time to get out of Glasgow? Dr Evil and Lawell have got to take some of the blame here too. Mowbray's signings have really surprised me, having even played in the old firm as well as against them, he should surely know that a certain type of player is required to win the league. In my opinion, it looked like it meant much more the the Rangers players yesterday than iit did the Celtic players, and it was the Celtic players that were supposedly desperate on the win.
I think Walter Smith is a very clever manager, he knows how to get a result at all costs. In saying this I don't like his style, at times overly negative and certainly attrocious to watch in the past. I just wish to **** Mowbray had a little bit of his tactical awareness - I mean he had four players on the pitch at the same time yesterday who's first and foremost position is striker
I think to be fair Mowbray does have a long term plan - and maybe eventually wants Celtic to be playing a certain way - but this is Celtic and you dont get time That said i feel Rangers ****ed up by sacking Le Guen early - he had an idea about where he wanted them to be - and always thought they'd regret it in the end bringing in smiths short term strategy. However i feel given rangers present plight there is no reason we cant build a side whist winning at the moment. We have decent players (not workd class but not awful either) who simply dont seem to pay well - and the manager must get the blame for not getting more out of what he has at his disposal
Our accounts showed that we have nearly twice the wage bill of Rangers. We're certainly not getting much value for that.
To be fair that Thomas Rogne looks decent as does Ki and Fortune. Its the loan signings that contradict everything, they havent performed and wont be here long term, despite monkeyheid having a long term plan. Its a tough decision, give him time to build something or get rid now and try to bring stability back. For the record Le Guen was a ****ing idiot, he totally underestimated and disrespected the SPL and got the results he deserved. The likes of Svensson, Sebo, Sionko, Letizi and N'Diaye were awful signings. Walter Smith came in and results changed immediately. It wasnt pretty to look at in the first 18 months but it was effective. He now has us playing good football as well as winning. To be successful you have to build from the back. Every team has done it, even Arsene Wenger did it when rebuilding Arsenal. Mowbray has a good idea on how the game should be played but in terms of building a team he hasnt got a ****ing clue and his sidekicks Grunt and Venus are hardly going to add intelligence either.
i agree anport, i can see where mowbray is trying to go and think that if given time could build a good entertaining side. not convinced he'll create a decent defence though as he's had a poor defensive record at other clubs and seems to favour defenders who might be better at getting forward than they are at actually defending. he doesnt accept/understand that in the OF many of the fans will want success straight away and wont accept the idea of conceeding a title for the sake of progress (although saying this that side should be more competitive than it is). i think the celtic board will back him (purely based on the money they've given him) and he'll be at the club next season.
p.s. doesnt rogne look like the bloke in the advert? please log in to view this image
Mowbray could be forgiven if he was re-building a team and was still in with a shout of the League - a little of the pace! But to be fair, the league was over at NY! Why start with a half fit McGeady n Keane ... why not play Fortune wide right, Kamra wide left Crosa Brown and NGuemo across the middle with Rassmussen as a lone striker! Leave Keane to come on with 15/20 mins to go if needing an impact! Mowbray got desprate and now doesn't know his perfect starting 11. He accomodating Keane when it's not his signing!
Listen, Mowbray has failed, giving him more time won't change a thing. This is a Rangers team in financial meltdown and still Walter puts Celtic to the sword. I like Mowbray as a man, I even feel a little sorry for him but he's out of his depth. However, he's not the only one to blame, I think The War Criminal and Lawell have a lot to answer for.
What has Lawwell done? I was against Mowbray getting the job in the summer & am obviously not his biggest fan at the moment but there was little choice on who would accept the job. He has backed Mowbray with the money - its up to Mowbray to deliver & he has failed. If that game was at CP yesterday I would have lead a charge on to the pitch to grab Mowbray, tie him to an advertising board & cook him on a fire made in the centre circle where the whole of the Jungle would munch on his remains. Thats how all **** managers should go
Seems reasonable enough to me. Seriously, Lawell is culpable for not spending when Celtic were in a position of strength last season which allowed Rangers to overhaul a 7 point deficit to win the league. I also wouldn't be surprised if he's "The Source" that leaked Celtic's complaint to the SFA. In my opinion it came from someone senior within Celtic Park, him and Reid are het. And you can clearly see this was a vicious headbutt on Big laff.. please log in to view this image
We should have & needed to spend last January..........but Strachan was off in the summer, I would presume the board were notified of this during January or prior to that. Would you have trusted Strachan with more money? Would you have trusted Strachan with more money knowing a new manager would inherit more ****e? By all accounts we went for Fletcher but were quoted about ÃÆÃâÃâ ââ¬â¢ÃÆââ¬Â âââ‰â¢ÃÆÃâÃââÃÆââââ¬à ¡ÃâìÃÆââ¬Â¦ÃâáÃÆÃâÃâ ââ¬â¢ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¡ÃÆÃââââ¬à ¡ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã4m by Hibs, good player but thats a hefty price.
I remember you saying he wasn't up to it at the start of the season rocket on spn. I disagreed saying he could combine winning and attractive football. I was wrong - he's ****e. And apparently very unlucky. Not a combination that tends to bring success. Long-term plan my arse. Why play 3 loan signings then?
If this was the case then surely last january was the time for a Robbie Keane style loan deal. Granted we may not have got Keane but a decent striker on a 6 month loan deal would have done the trick. Could have won the league - guaranteed CL money and given the new manager time
How do you know they didn't look in to it then though? Lawwell & keane have admitted they've had conversations the last 4/5 transfer windows about Keane joining so obviously they have been looking in to big deals on loan or otherwise. We also know they went in for Fletcher but ÃÆÃâÃâ ââ¬â¢ÃÆââ¬Â âââ‰â¢ÃÆÃâÃââÃÆââââ¬à ¡ÃâìÃÆââ¬Â¦ÃâáÃÆÃâÃâ ââ¬â¢ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¡ÃÆÃââââ¬à ¡ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã4m is a big price to pay for a guy who hasn't scored alot of goals & who's to say the manager following Strachan would have wanted him? The facts are Lawwell has given Mowbray license to revamp the squad, spend alot of money, letting people go for nothing to free up the wage bill & bring in big earners on loan - thats what the fans were crying out for in January, the board have produced the goods it is now the manager who will be judged
