Moving to a new Software platform

Hi Guys,

Pretty soon you will notice a change to how the site looks as we move to a new software platform to improve even further, site functionality.

Here is the beta site for you to have a look at.

It owuld be good for you to give any feedback you have so that I can feed into Mick on your behalf.

PS- one of the quirky things about the new site is that usernames can't have apostrophes... hence why I have changed my name to A.C.S. ... plus it will help Trev identify me

 

In my opinion it doesn't look good at 1920x1080, but looks better at 1280x800. Unfortunately I do most of my browsing on my desktop rather than laptop, so I'm in the first bracket. I don't like the fact that "Tools" Opens on mouse over, and seeing as there's only one option under it a "Report" button would be preferable. Finally, where's the rep button?!

 

To be honest, doesn't look good at all and if anything looks more like a very primitive forum. Not sure how I can word it but looks as if the Ford Fiesta has gone from how it is now back to the egg box look it had in the 1980's.

 

It looks like it's been built for mobile and then upscaled for larger screens rather than having a separate URL for mobile (m.not606...)

 

Never been on the mobile site - that's why I have a laptop and desktop! Pretty poor altogether if this is trhe case and if this goes through in that format I think a lot of people will leave.

 

The only time I've accessed this site on mobile it's been the same one as visible on Desktop. They need to distinguish between the two platforms and have two sites/skins

 

Rep will be replaced with a 'like' button

 

but we already have a like button AND a rep button

 

The new 'like' function will be a standalone and will look like rep in that people with a lot of 'likes' will have that number visible to all.

Is it going to have that little button thing which takes you to the latest post as opposed to having to link to a page and try and remember where you last got to?

If not, it should.

I don't like it. I only ever view the site on my laptop and I just don't like the feel of it.

That said, I probably wouldn't leave over it, but first impressions are that it seems overly complicated in layout with less functionality (tho I appreciate these are early days and maybe things will change).

 

It's not dramatically different.
I'll get used to it soon enough.

 

Looks simple enough to me. Banner could be more prominent.
