Colback and Larsson on the bench. A combination of Gardner, Vaughan or Meyler in the middle. Sessegnon and Johnson out wide. Wickham up front with Fletcher. 4-4-2 Wickham looked good today, out and out number 9. Based on those 45 minutes alone, Wickham looks much more suited to a 4-5-1 formation than Fletcher. I'd like to see both of them on the pitch. Results wise, it isn't going to be any worse. 2nd half performance was very encouraging and on that showing, assuming MON takes notice, looks asthough we might have enough to stop up. Feeling much more optimistic after today.
In general I agree. Wickham looks like a big stiff fcuker, but I would still put him in. Maybe put Campbell R/W as Mclean is rotten to the core. Not a fan of Vaughan but at this point he has to be given a chance. Lots of positives from 44 minutes onwards (Mclean and Larsson excluded)
This is of our other forum from a while back, and had several different answers..Let's see what you think on here. Cast your eyes over the squad members, and go through them individually and ask yourself these questions. Good enough to take us forward. Good enough for now, but will stagnate. Mearly a squad player, use only when necessary. Not good enough. We will all differ in our opinions, but at present, we have several that fall into each catergory. So what do you think? Will take a little time but cut and paste and lets see how good or bad we think our squad is. McClean is still a diamond in the rough. He showed touches and confidence yesterday that have been missing in his game recently. These signs are good and can maybe put down to Steve Guppy who was a right footed left winger under MON at Wycombe, Leicester and Celtic. Interchanging McC with AJ durimng a game could be used more to unbalance the opposition, but this could be work in progress until rookie McC comes good.
We don't have the time to babysit McClean through games mate he has been terrible all season so it's not just a new thing. One of the lads said use him as an impact sub as his direct running can maybe work against tired defenders, for me he should be dropped and put into the reserves for a few games and hope it sorts him out. Still think that AJ should be used on the left and leave Seb on the right where he was very good last season again, Seb has been poor this because he has been shifted to accomodate AJ on the wing, square ish pegs in round ish holes mate it works sort of but not the way we want it to.
Oh if only we had a lower positioned team up next id be fully behind the 442. Chelsea could be the hardest game for anyone this weekend. They will get to a point when they stop licking their wounds and feeling sorry for themselves and I think that loss at West Ham may so it for them. The fixtures are really falling ****e for us and they have all season
I think we need to do the following 5 things to move forward: 1. Recall Meyler immediately and play him centrally with Gardner 2. Bench McClean and play Johnson on the left, Seb on the right. 3. Play 2 up front in a 4-4-2, combination of SF, CW, SS and FC depending on fitness/opposition 4. Return to the high intensity positive style that marked MON's first 12 matches 5. Appoint a high quality number 2. I really think that changing a manager at this time is the worst thing that could happen, especially given MON's proven track record. He needs at least 3 years to develop his team. Now is the time to get behind him and back him 100%.
Never going to happen, won't play 4-4-2, MOM will not take notice, Wickham only got a go on the pitch because Fletcher was injured
