Suffolk based brewing giant Greene King has resumed it's association with Town after a 5 year break. Greene King will sponsor the Sir Alf Ramsey Stand and provide all the beer around the bars at the stadium. Joint Club MD Ian Milne says that a 6 figure sponsorship deal has been signed with the Bury St Edmunds based brewer and the proceeds will be passed on directly to Mick for building the team! Great news to add to all the other positives that are coming out of Portman Road during the close season. Personally I still prefer a pint of Adnams but to have Greene King's backing once more is a real blessing! http://www.eadt.co.uk/business/ipsw...sponsorship_role_at_ipswich_town_fc_1_3675852
Hopefully its a good deal financially for Town but there is no way I will be swapping Adnams for Greene King personally
Everything has a down side! Broadside for IPA... I think not! On the other hand Abbot Ale is a nice drink but they wont be stocking that!
Hello everyone...old gaffer here, been recuperating rather quietly for me - and a shipwright friend calls it a right old keelhauling! I hope you have not been too surprised, shocked, angry or even worried about the England team performance at the World Cup!? Confess to not watching all the games, and not at all surprised to see Germany in the final. Wish the Dutch had made it, but good to have both continents, styles and temperaments represented in the final. Germany to snuff out a disappointing Messi and lift the Cup! Back to local waters.....rather ale. Agree with Warky and all, that while no doubt good to have negotiated a better financial deal, no supporter in their right mind would prefer Greene King to any drop of Adnams! IPA is 2nd best at best! Exciting pre-season stuff and I for one will have a spring in my step and relish the kick-off in only a few weeks time. I can safely say that we will finish in the top 22! But I like others will happily enjoy our English summer and all that it offers - if not in sporting terms! - which really is something to appreciate, when we have a proper summer! And of course I look forward to our usual banter on here....just don't mention Suffolk Punches and ITFC in same breath!
Great post Gaffer I much prefer a drop of Adnams compared to the gnats piss that Greene King brew but saying that I do like a pint of Abbot now and again so long as it has been well kept! Abbot and IPA do not travel very well and you can tell if a landlord knows what he's doing if he serves you a truly decent pint of either! The sponsorship money will come in very handy all the same!
