QPR have made an offer for Burnley striker Charlie Austin after missing out on Gary Hooper. Celtic forward Hooper is set to join Norwich after the Canaries matched QPR’s bid for him. He had been stalling over a transfer to Loftus Road in the hope of securing a move to the Premier League.
I wonder if they are pursuing overseas options at all? The world is a big place and I feel certain Hooper / Austin can't be our only options. Is it simply a question of logistics? Gets scouts to watch games etc??
I have no idea who he is, but like the thinking. All these well known names come at a cost, and our new tough contracts stance may well hamstring us with them anyway. I'd rather take some modest risks with lower league/overseas players (Harold was very good with the latter at Pompey, where has that gone?). Would be even better to bring in our own youngsters of course.
11:18 AMSky Bet @SkyBetTRANSFERS: Loic Remy has been backed from 6/4 to 1/3 to join Newcastle and Gary Hooper is now 1/7 to go to Norwich -> sky.me/15hytfE
Here we go again another striker, will we announce to media etc that he's good player & deals in place & almost done!!
Good signing I think. Hooper overrated anyway. Scott McDonald left Celtic for Boro with a better scoring record than Hooper and he hasnt exactly set the championship alight
Former Poole Town star Charlie Austin fined for assault - denies drug-taking claims. Wednesday, June 05, 2013. Former Poole Town star Charlie Austin has vehemently denied he was caught taking drugs in a nightclub toilet, during a court case in which he was fined for assault. According to BBC News, Austin said he was acting in self-defence. The 23-year-old striker, who used to play for Swindon Town, punched Sam Webb, 20, in the face. Mr Webb claimed he disturbed Austin in a toilet cubicle in the club and saw the footballer âhunched overâ the toilet bowl. He suspected Austin was taking drugs as he heard a âsniffing soundâ. The former Dolphins striker, who is now the subject of speculation over a transfer to a Premier League club, was found guilty of common assault by beating. He was fined £1,800 and ordered to pay £1,320 costs. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
Redknapp's a burk. Whatever people think about his work rate, Bothroyd scores goals at Championship level.
