Presumably if Harry takes another job it will be with a club that has a bright future, knowledgable fans and a board that will be honest and open with him at al times. He won't be going to Anfield <ok>

Their first promo videos described Lafferpool as the 'worlds most prestigious soccer club'. They have since revised that to 'worlds most ridiculous soccer club'
 
I just read on the beeb that they offered Fulham Henderson as part of the Dempsey deal. So they offered a £20m player as part of a deal for someone we got for £6m. Where to start...

Pretty sure that someone will claim it's a Cockney conspiracy! I'm surprised Carla Lane hasn't written a sit com about Liverpool FC yet - presumably the reality is far funnier than anything she could write.
 
What Liverpool Football Club's principal owner John W Henry really meant in the open letter to supporters:





I am as deluded as anyone connected with Liverpool Football Club but disappointed that we were unable to add further to our strike force in this summer transfer window, but that was not through any lack of desire or effort on the part of all of those involved, we just are too skint to compete. We pushed hard in the final days of the transfer window on a number of forward targets and it is unfortunate that on this occasion we were unable to conclude acceptable deals to bring those targets in. In short, Emile and Darious told us to **** off and Dempsey chose to become a yid, despite us making a bid.

But a summer window which brought in three young, but significantly talented starters in Joe 'can pass-can't tackle' Allen, Nuri 'RM reject' Sahin and Fabio 'great name, sounds like a striker' Borini as well as two exciting young potential stars of the future Samed Yesil and Oussama Assaidi (proving Suarez's racist remarks don't piss them off too much) -- could hardly be deemed a failure as we build for the future and moved on some of the crap which has been sitting on our bench for the last few seasons.

Nor should anyone minimise the importance of keeping our best players during this window. We successfully retained Daniel Agger, Martin Skrtel and Luis Suarez by threatening to burgle their homes if the went out and stealing their mobile phones. We greatly appreciate their faith and belief in the club, their statements commiting their futures were extracted using minimal torture. In addition, we successfully negotiated new, long-term contracts with Luis and with Martin after tricking them into signing.

No one should doubt our commitment to the club. We have blown so much of our money already we can't ****ing pull out now without taking a big ****-off hit. In Brendan Rodgers we have a talented young manager and we have valued highly his judgement about the make-up of the squad. This is a work in progress unless Sam Alydyce becomes available. It will take time for Brendan to instill his philosophy into the squad and build exactly what he needs for the long term providing we don't become impatient and sack him and appoint Arry Redknapp.

The transfer policy was not about cutting costs despite us being potless. It was - and will be in the future - about getting maximum value for what is spent so that we can build quality and depth and getting rid of the dross brought in by that Damien Comioli ****er, god knowns what we saw in him particularly as he had previous at Tottenham. We are avowed proponents of UEFA's Financial Fair Play agenda that was this week reiterated by Mr Platini - something we heartily applaud as it's the only way we will ever be able to compete. We must comply with Financial Fair Play guidelines that ensure spending is tied to income as we are skint, and likely to remain so for the foreseeable future. We have been successful in improving the commercial side of the club selling melted down hubcaps for scrap and dealing in smack and crack. The monies generated going forward will give us greater spending power in the coming years* (*subject to parole).

We are still in the process of reversing the errors of previous regimes which were almost as deluded as us. It will not happen overnight. It has been compounded by our own mistakes in a difficult first two years of ownership. Employing Comioli and Dogleash, ****ing hell, even Gordon Brown couldn't have done a worse job and look how he ****ed the British Economy. It has been a harsh education, but make no mistake, the club is healthier today than when we took over, which incidently is not that difficult as the club was within a few hours of receivership when we took over.

Spending is not merely about buying talent, as you know we spent good money on Henderson, Downing and Adam as well. Our ambitions do not lie in cementing a mid-table place with expensive, short-term quick fixes that will only contribute for a couple of years, although that would be ideal for starters if we could possibly achieve it. Our emphasis will be on developing our own players using the skills of an increasingly impressive coaching team because we cannot afford to buy any. Much thought and investment already have gone into developing a self-sustaining pool of youngsters imbued in the club's traditions of fighting at parties, drug dealing and open racism.

That ethos is to win, next year we be our year will be our motto in 2020. We will invest to succeed if we have any money left after paying share dividends. But we will not mortgage the future with risky spending this year because Comioli and Dogleash blew our planned budget for the next 10 years in only one year last term.

After almost two years at Anfield, we are close to having the Apartheid system we need in place. The transfer window may not have been perfect but at least we didn't sign too many african players, we are not just looking at the next 16 weeks until we can buy again as we still won't have any money: we are looking at the next 16 years and beyond before we recover from what King Kenny and that ****er frenchman did to us. These are the first steps in restoring one of the world's most deluded clubs to its proper status, Division 1 Champions.

It will not be easy, it will not be perfect, but there is a clear vision at work and if Brendan can't make it work there is always Arry.

We will build and grow from within, buy prudently and cleverly because we are skint and never again waste resources on inflated transfer fees and unrealistic wages. In other words we will never again sign top players. We have no fear of spending and competing with the very best in Division 1 but we will not overpay for players.

We will never place this club in the precarious position that we found it in when we took over at Anfield. This club should never again run up debts that threaten its existence. We'll never spend again.

Most of all, we want to win Division 1. That ambition drives every decision. It is the Liverpool way. We can and will generate the revenues to achieve that aim by doubling the price of tickets and not building a new stadium. There will be short-term setbacks from time to time, but we believe we have the right people in place to bring more glory to Anfield providing we set our sights lower.

Finally, I can say with authority that our ownership is not about profit. Let's face it, the money we pay ourselves in Directors Fees and Dividends the club will never make a profit. Contrary to popular opinion, owners rarely get involved in sports in order to generate cash. They generally get involved with a club in order to compete and work for the benefit of their club. It's only Americans like the Glaziers and ourselves who are out to fleese the clubs. It's often difficult. In our case we work every day in order to generate revenues to fund our other failing businesses. We have only one driving ambition at Liverpool and that is the quest to win the Division 1 playing the kind of football our supporters want to see. That will only occur if we do absolutely the right things to build the club in a way that makes sense for supporters, for us and for those who will follow us. We will deliver what every long-term supporter of Liverpool Football Club and Tranmere Rovers aches for, a local derby twice a year.

I read the entire "Henry letter," and I have to confess that I found it quite extraordinary. On the one hand, he is telling the Mousers that he wants 'Pool to win things, but on the other, he's admitting that they are not prepared to compete with other clubs to sign the players they need. It's all well and good saying "we won't waste money on expensive signings and silly wages," but that's what you have to do in order to have any chance of competing for a top 4 place - and Henry has said he wants "Pool to win the league, ffs!

That letter is nothing but smoke and mirrors, and I expect that the Mousers will lap it up for a little while, but there will come a point when the rebellion will break, and Henry will be forced to, firstly, sack Roy Rodgers, and then to splash silly money on getting in the types of players that proper top 4 clubs are getting in.

That will never happen. What the scouse need to remember is that he is a Yank and they look on sports ownership differently. Because of the massive sponsorship and tv money they can make a profit even from a midtable team now and that is what they are doing. They don't care about anything else. As long as they stay in the Prem they don't care if it's 5th or 17th. We all know they'll be nearer the bottom of that than the top.

They'll get to play at Wembley every year though - admittedly it will be as Liverpool Leopards and the game will be American football but all the same........

FSG are getting real heat in the US for their running of the Red Sox too. They have slashed their wage bill by getting rid of all their top earners and the result is a team missing out on playoff action and getting worse by the game. They don't have the finance for one club anymore let alone 2. It couldn't happen to a better club!

It doesn't seem very long ago that they were all gleefully mocking Manchester United for falling into the clutches of the Glazers - funny old game innit Saint? <laugh>?
 
Hate to defend the Scousers, but I think that home atmospheres are struggling across the board, especially at the top level.
The cost and commitment means that some fans demand entertainment and success, which clashes with the dedication and loyalty of most fans that regularly attend away games.
There's more to it than that, of course, but it's not unique to Anfield, by any means.

Certain claims made about the fans there probably make it a little more deserving of scrutiny, though... <whistle>
