Back in the 70s and 80s the UEFA cup hadn't yet been wrecked by UEFA and the League Cup hadn't been reduced to a "mickey mouse" competition.
No. And football is poorer for what has happened since.
It was great when more than four of five teams could win anything and finishing 5th in the league wasn't a catastrophe

Completely agree...only the CL and League are rated as trophies now...the EL is only viewed as being worth winning cos it gets you into the CL the following season.

The 70s and 80s were pretty cool for us...
2 league cups (71 and 73)
2 uefa cups (72 and 84)
2 fa cups (81 and 82)

6 trophies in 11 yrs is hardly slim pickings.
I was there for all of those :1980_boogie_down: although the 60s is my favourite era :smiley-finger007:. Happy days before all the money grubbing. I remember it making headlines when some players got £20 a week! An absolute to fortune back then <laugh>

The '60s was before my time but the legacy of Best, Law & Charlton, The World Cup win, footballers as glamorous, professional stars was very real for me as a child.

I remember cheering on Charlton and the rest of the United team in that European Final .Sorry to say I wouldn't do it now!!!!

1959/60...1961/62....1962/3.....Shoulda,coulda've won at least another league title, but blew it each time!

I believe we were only 3 points from another double in 1966/7 season......

No hatred. You can't dispute the facts. They don't require interpretation.
No ignorance. Ditto.
But what comes around goes around.
I don't think you can necessarily expect sympathy from clubs who suffered at the time - including my club. I went to the 1985 Cup final as a kid; I don't remember any European football in the next season.
I was at Heysel. You weren't. It is blatant ignorance. Now ****ing do one, you horrible ****.

Does luke ever post on the utd board or does he just live here bitching aboit Liverpool with the spuds crusty grave dodger crew?

<laugh> tis fukin sad tbh

Well aren't you a sad ****.

Without condoning the abhorrent violence at Heysel ask him about Boro season-ticket holders Irene and Norman Roxby.
The couple killed 3 months before Heysel when Man U fans pushed the gates and pillars over in the away end at Ayersome Park.
Ask him about how the Palace fan at the Villa Park FA Cup semi-final was stabbed then chased into the road and killed.
Ask him why Utd were ordered to play two home games away from Old Trafford in the early 70's including their home game against Arsenal at Anfield.
He's full of hateful **** RHC and can see no wrong with his own club's fanbase.

The point was as simple as this. And it was the only point.
In response to the issue of Liverpool "not getting what we deserve" should the season not be completed, I pointed out that fans of some clubs might not necessarilly feel sympathetic to them given that those clubs did not get what they deserved either as a direction consequence of the actions of some Liverpool fans.
For example, Luton missed out on Europe in the only season they "qualified" for it in their history!
It wasn't any deeper than that.
It certainly wasn't a comment on football violence in general.

He also wasn't pissed, and spat on by Juventus fans. **** him. He's not worthy of any further dialogue.
