Thrilled with this, one of my favourite players. I know his ball control and touch are haphazard and his range of passing isn't the best but he's a flawless athlete and a top footballer, invaluable asset for counter-attacking.
A couple of years ago, I was at OT for the second leg of the Champions league against Utd. We were in the East Upper, beautiful view of play, and you could watch the game unfold even though we got turtled by a rampant Utd side. That said, whenever Ramires got the ball at his feet, he was the only player who moved forward, he was the only player who made Utd step backwards, and he was also the only player that made the Utd team change shape, like he'd been identified as an issue and therefore they acted accordingly. Ever since I've regarded him highly, always overlooked him before that. Agree about the touch etc but he had an off season last year. On his day he is lethal.
I went to his first 2 games and noticed the potential and all the things you said. I was at that game you mentioned as well, was never a million years a red and he was our best player on the night, as he was in the 1st leg as well when we were denied a stonewall penalty. He'd have been by 11/12 player of the season but for Mata.
Saw him for the first time live against Birmingham in the FA cup replay last year, was impressed is to say the least. The guy can run but needs to hone his skills, that is to say know when to run and when to pass, keep running and run again then when all the other players pass out from exhaustion, keep running. I ****ing love Ramires.
