http://www.sport.net/jose-mourinho-celebrates-100-premier-league-wins-with-chelsea_112225 Jose only takes 142 games to reach 100 wins, 20 games faster than Saffa.
Is being the first to 100 wins the measure of the greatest? Surely it is career acievements? Not saying Mourinho isn't the best, but I don't think that stat proves it. Still got some way to go to outdo Ferguson.
He's outdone Ferguson already. Serie A, La Liga and Premier League. Quality over quantity all day for me.
I quote "in the history of the Prem". If you are expanding it beyond that, then others need to be considered. No one denies he is a great manager, but would be interesting to see what he achieved without Roman's billions. You can't deny it makes his job easier to be able to have Hazard, Willian, Oscar, Torres (?), Eto'o etc playing for him.
But then what would Fergie have done without all the millions he spent plus the best youth side ever to come through in one go? Both managers were given the tools to succeed but it is what you do with it that counts. Neither would win the title with Palace!!
Are you forgetting what he did with Porto on purpose or...? Mourinho will go down as the greatest in the modern era in my eyes. Football is about money now, you need it to succeed. It would have been impossible to do what the likes of Stein, Shankly, Clough etc did in today's climate.
...just a tad over the top. Fergie is the greatest, like him or loath him. I believe Mourinho will surpass his record though.
Yes I am forgetting Porto - on purpose. It says in the history of the Prem - I don't recall Porto being in the prem? Again, I'm not slagging him off, I think he is a great manager with a great record. But the finance helps and distorts the picture about who is the best.
You're comment I was replying to implied you were now talking about outside the Premier League. Didn't think you were slagging him off, just saying I think he would still be among the top managers today had he not came to Chelsea.
2 of the 3 you mentioned there were spending large amounts at the time and broke the then transfer records for players. Of course it was little in comparison today but at the time it was more than enough to out spend their rivals.
Ignoring what he did at Porto and Inter. First manager in history of ITALIAN Football to win the treble
Don't start that. People get upset if you suggest winning trophies in Scotland is anything like doing it in Portugal, Spain, France etc.
The only thing Fergie was better at was staying at one Club. Jose did him like a dinner in the PL, and Joses return was the tipping point for Red Nose to leg it when he saw the going was getting tough again. Jose also beats him hands down when it comes to humanity. You can argue all day about spending, but all the big successful Clubs spent like my wife in Paris with a Platinum card when they had dominant teams.
