But who agrees with me? Lots of Chelsea fans will, after all both men were managers of the club in the last decade. There's a very slim chance Jose Mourinho will actually take the job if the FA approached him. Some would say he's the best manager in Chelsea's history, and his managerial record is one of the best in the world, winning the Champions League twice with Porto and Inter Milan. As for Guus Hiddink, he did remarkably well at international level when manager of South Korea and Australia. Like Mourinho, he has a top class record at club level which includes guiding PSV Eindhoven to the European Cup in the 1980's. But his overall record does make him a better candidate than Mourinho - some Chelsea fans wish he stayed on as manager after the 2008-09 season. I'd be delighted if Hiddink was England manager, but wishful thinking he'll take the job. I'd be very disappointed to see Harry leave Spurs. But maybe it's inevitable he will.
and no chelsea fan will agree with you because they want to see HR become the new england manager in the hope that it destablises us and gives them a little chance of catching us.
The FA hamstrung themselves by saying the next England manager "must" be English - without consulting the list of English managers currently in the Premier League, which reads: Harry Redknapp Alan Pardew Roy Hodgson After that, the choice of managers who haven't already sipped the poisoned chalice doesn't get much much better: Tony Adams Nigel Adkins Sam Allardyce Aidy Boothroyd Lee Clark Nigel Clough Alan Curbishley Ian Holloway Paul Ince Paul Jewell Brian McDermott Tony Mowbray Stuart Pearce Peter Reid Neil Warnock Ray Wilkins Not exactly a set of world beaters, are they?
just appoint fat Sam and be done with it...Tony Pulis even so his team can kick the crap out of everyone ..better than what we have been achieving in recent years id say.
No reason for my text being this size - it's not big to me... This font size too big so I don't use it. The list of English managers you typed humanbeingincroydon doesn't have an outstanding candidate so Redknapp would be the best choice from that list.
Did you notice that Bernstein said English and then immediately corrected himself saying British. I genuinely think O'Neil would be the best candidate. How McLaren got the job over him is staggering!
i dont think O Neill is the type to be told what to do...he's cut from the same cloth as his mentor Cloughie...the FA dont go for real men..only puppets.
O'Neil is the best candidate IMO but I think he has ruled himself out, as any sane human being would, no offence Harry.
If we're going for a foreigner, my number one choice would be Wenger. I'm not saying this to be controversial on the Spurs board, I think he's a square peg in a round hole at Arsenal, but believe he is capable of doing the business with a set pool of players.
Expect his mates in the Murdoch Press to say how Ferguson is England's saviour (unless he's instructed them otherwise)
