http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20468454 Do we agree, or disagree, and if its the latter, who's been missed and why? Note to posters who think Lloris should be in this list...your post will be deleted!
Evening Notso . I hadn't seen this list before, but it's awesome. Very difficult to disagree with any of them, but somehow I would have to find a place for Peter Schmiecal. I know I always look at things from a keeper point of view, but the guy took goalkeeping to another level and more. Some of the best saves I have ever seen were from him and his positioning was almost faultless. There was so much about his game which was almost impossible to fault. Very strong, very vocal and very very good. For me he has to be in there.
Evening mate, I'd agree with that, in place of Cech too. PC hasn't been the same since the bang on the noggin, don't care what anyone says...even you! ...waits patiently for a SSing!
I think Cantona would be on everyone's list. To this day I consider him to be one of the most talented players I have seen. I like a bit of smutty gossip, so I always remember the rumours surrounding his move from Leeds to United. it was said he had to be sold because he was shagging Lee Chapman's wife.
Must have fancied trying out her new lips!...or, his dipstick in her lipstick! Back to topic, I think Zola and...spit!...Viera could replace one in there perhaps.
Zola is a great shout. Ditto Viera. I think I might have to boot of RVN out Motty's list to accommodate one of these two.
No, not for me, top 20 maybe, top player, but not ahead of any of those, Ruud Gullit deserves a mention, more than him.
Rooney! give over, Rooney had a **** spell beyond belief! whats he had 2 good seasons! His current partner deserves a mention for 2 good seasons before him. Ashley Cole before any of that lot. Go away with your delusional bias!
VdV no, simply because he only played 2 seasons with Spurs. Although we all loved the guy! Zola should have been in. Possibly Andy Cole for Man Utd or even Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer. Supersub and a half he was!
Agree with most of Motty's selections, wouldn't have Cech in there though, I don't think he's been the best keeper signed in the Prem nor have I really rated him as the best keeper in the league at any point either. If you're looking for a keeper in that list then van der Sar surely has to be there?! Both his transfers from Juve to Fulham and then Fulham to Utd were both great bits of business for the buying club. Very surprised Vieira isn't listed, £3.5m for arguably the best box-to-box midfielder the Prem has seen (though Yaya Toure COULD take that mantle in the coming years). Think Tim Cahill was also a fantastic signing, £1.5m and avergaed a goal every 4 league games (roughly) for Everton from a CM/ CAM position. ** All figures taken from Wikipedia
Have to agree, Viera has to be in there. I wouldnt have Alonso as although he is a great player, I dont think anyone saw how good he was until he left. Liverpool were trying to replace him with Gareth Barry for christ sake!!!!! Cantona for me is also the best signing, for £1m as well wow what a bit of business. even then thats pretty cheap.
Yes I would want Gianfranco Zola in there and agree about Viera. To replace Lampard and Alonso in the list. The rest as is. We just did not see enough of Cantona the player with the brilliant football brain and skills to match. Produced more 'how did he do that' moments than anyone else I can think of.
Tevez has got to be a contender, surely? He kept the Spanners up almost single-handedly, and then was a major ingredient to £ity's winning the EPL title last season (despite Mancini's best attempts to marginalise him). If United win this season's title, I reckon that RVP ought to get a mention, too, especially after having been the reason for dragging the Gooners from certain mid-table obscurity to 3rd spot, last season.
