Only a couple of hours to kick off of a vital game for both teams as they seek to hold on to the coat tails of table toppers Rangers. Glenn Loovens is still missing for Celtic while both Joe Ledley and Ki Sung-yueng are rated as doubtful. Badr el-kaddouri and Thomas Rogne are both available for selection. Celtic manager Neil Lennon knows how vital a match this is: "To beat a team like Rennes [on Thursday] with all that was surrounding the game was a credit to the players. Now it is back to business and we want to get a positive result on Sunday. "The players know they are capable of going there and winning but we are looking for consistency. "With Motherwell going well and us being away from home it is a tough proposition but the boost from [Thursday] night should stand us in good stead."
****ing pointless, the league is over ; I admire your dedication in putting in the effort for a match thread. Bite the bullet.
How dare you no booing blah blah blah. I don't think its gone yet, we need to get our ****ing act together thought.
One must try RL, one must try. If we can get the gap down to 8 or 9 points by Christmas we have a small chance. Even putting aside the tax case and all that bollocks, Whyte has already said they need to make about £7m in savings before the end of the season and the only realistic way they can do that is selling players in January. With Naismith crocked that means selling at least one of their good players like MacGregor, Davis and/or Jelavic. Do I think we'll win the league? No. Even if Rangers do have to sell players and hit a sticky patch we're far too inconsistent and too many players don't look their hearts are in it.
****ing ESPN? Get this game in one of the channels I've got. Shower a bastards. And no I haven't got a hangover. Where's the alka seltzer?
It's good to see McCall has picked up his old mentor's main tactic, ie. boot the opposition's most creative player up and down the field.
We needed a moment of inspiration and we got it from Paddy. Stokes and Hooper scoring again. Two very tough games and we've come through them with two wins.
Good win today. If only we can get a few wins, even ugly wins then the confidence wont be far behind. Maybe start playing with a bit of style then, but at the minute the ugly wins will do for me.
A good win, was always going to be a bit of a fight today and we stood it well to it. I enjoyed it today the blood was pumping like an old firm game Paddy was very good when he came on they couldn't handle him.
The fight and desire was back in the team today. This was the sort of game where we had to grind out a result and we did it. Kayal is starting to get back to his snarling best and even the defence looked solid after our customary gifting of a goal to the opposition. Lennon's choice to have a go at the players in public could have backfired but it looks like it worked. We now have a couple of weeks for most of the players to recharge their batteries after all the midweek/weekend games.
Excellent substitution bringing on Paddy McCourt just at the right time (if he'd been on earlier he'd have been kicked off the park!) Neil Lennon commented that it was a 'physical' game - a bit of an understatement! Motherwell's tactics were obviously to 'get stuck in' and we were again lucky not to have more players injured. Referee was poor early on - allowed far too many dangerous fouls by Motherwell. As TTC says though, 'we stood it well' and it was great to see some fighting spirit from most of our players! A well-earned three points!
good hard earned win , thought the atmosphere amongst the fans was incredible considering the recent league results , onwards and upwards we go
