I love that the commentator tried to justify that Kane meant that He's good, but **** off did he mean that.
The way Spurs took Everton apart was very much like they did us at the end of last season. It could have been 7 or 8 if Pickford hadn't pulled of some good saves.
It has long been something I have found annoying - squad numbers. The Liverpool right back Trent-Alexander 66.
I never understood why it annoyed people. It really bugged a lad on our team, when he was made captain he insisted everybody wore 1-11. So when we played the Varsity game against Leicester Uni I asked the kit man to do me a special shirt. 88. I was the goalkeeper. He wasn't happy, but he didn't spot it until half time.
Ahhh, '88' and its special meaning. I remember Private Eye did a little piece on a player being denied '88' so chose 77 instead. "G'day Goebbels?" They pondered.....
It should be like rugby union, just hand out the shirts for the game, 1-11 (or 1-15) in that case. None of this keeping a number and creating a brand around it bollocks. Also given how university sports work I very much doubt they had a kit man that made you a special shirt for the game.
It serves as an identifier though for new fans, maybe kids. There's certainly a purpose for it and I struggle to see any benefit from insisting on 1-11. Also how would that work if you're playing 3-5-2 for example? Who wears numbers 2, 3, 7 and 11 in that formation?
Certainly as number 2 to Butland, Hart just seems to have lost all his confidence, and looks as if it has been permanently shot now.
Well, he did. It is inexpensive to do and it was worth it. A player's squad number is the least important thing about them. 88 was the year I was born, that was the only real decision behind it.
Anyone watching MNF - ffs why the hell are Sky making it into a special event with large letters of the furniture - and Fat Sam -clearly can't afford a jacket that fits him - the stretch marks around his done up buttons are laughable - can't he afford the right size or does he still believe he's two sizes smaller than he really is
