Got to admit that with all the talk about lunges, the commentator may well have had a point about Ayala MAYBE being a tad fortunate to stay on the pitch, as was mentioned in another thread.

    2 good goals though.

What about the frailties pointed out in Chelsea's defence?
Think we may capitalise on them?

It was worth it just to see linekar **** up. How can he have a go at our defending when he can't even introduce us lol

I don't take what they say too seriously, a bit like Lawrensons predictions, one of these days he;s going to get a result for us right.

hopefully Lawrenson will predict we will get thrashed by Chelsea, is it not strange how his predictions are about as correct as Columikes ? one and the same person methinks!<laugh>

That tackle was a very tough decsision for dean. It was not I would call a 2 footed challenge but he did have one foot off the ground. I think going on the past 2 incidents I think a yellow was a fair punishment. I tell you what, if that was RVP scoring surmans goal they would have been w*****g over that all show...

I quite liked their take on our line up. Simeon Jackson, midfielder and Wes Hoolahan, centre forward

Re. Ayala's tackle, the fact that the game was being played in such a good spirit -- competitively but entirely fairly and without nastiness from any of the players on either side -- probably had a bearing on Mike Dean's decision. He didn't have to show any cards all afternoon apart from this particular incident. It must have been a pleasure to referee the game. If it had happened in a bad-tempered, hot-headed game where he'd already had to give out several cards, maybe it would have got red. Well done to both sides, AND to Mike Dean. <applause>

They need to re-format the programme with exception of the football I nearly fall to sleep when Mr Personality Shearer speaks, we pay our licence fee's to have boring knobs like him and Hansen drone on, they are that bad they make Steve Claridge seem like the life and soul of the party.

There's a guy on twitter and all he does is retweet comments where people slag Claridge off. He now has well over 400 followers <ok>
And no shortage of ammunition to retweet!

His not a popular bloke. The BBC really need to sort out MOTD, most people I know can't stand the coverage and pundits, as much as we all dislike Murdoch give me Sky any day of the week.

Hansen gets £40k per episode, allegedly. Unless you're one of the top 6, his opinion is not worth £4 of licence fee money.

Its not so much the format but the presenters. Lawro and Hansen only care about Liverpool, likewise Shearer only cares about Newcastle and Blackburn. Garth Crooks is only worried about hearing himself speak, Claridge has no idea what he's talking about, and as for Colin Murray, don't get me started.

They actually have people who know what they're talking about in Lee Dixon, Martin Keown, Dion Dublin, Leroy Rosenior and Matt Holland. These guys are able to give an unbiased assessment of a game and praise teams outside of the top six as well as acknowledging the top six teams have faults, and they have only just left the game so have a better idea of how the games is played today as opposed to the messers Hansen and Lawrenson, but for some reason the BBC stick with the old faces and are scared of change.

In fact I'd say they've made the same mistake as a lot of football clubs. They gone for names people recognise as opposed to the best for the job.

    MOTD 3 is even better!

Lee Dixon looks bored to hell, and glares at Murray with contempt throughout. He then often refuses to play along, dismissively blanking him, and not taking part in things. Combine that with the graphics often failing on the screens behind them and its a real joy to watch. I swear one day soon, Murray will ask Dixon a silly question, and Dixon will respond exclusively via mocking sneers and spitting on him!

if you haven't seen MOTD3 billy give it a watch. Dixon seems livid that he's been shoved in the most amateurish corner of the BBC, forced to play with Murray.

Dixon and rosenior are the best yet they feature rarely. It's ridiculous.

The pundits are boring that's the major problem Shearer and Hansen would make a great cure for insomnia. You need people who play devils advocate people who aren't afraid to argue or have a good laugh. The programme has a certain atmosphere it feels like going out for meal with people who don't really like one another, talking just to fill the awkward silence, carefully not treading on egg shells and looking at your watch saying when does this end.

40K per episode for Hansen is ridiculous, considering the BBC got rid of a load of departments last year, what does he actually bring to the table?

I'd quite like to hear you 'get started' as I don't know what's wrong with him. I don't know why he doesn't now present the main show with Lee Dixon as a pundit, as the Saturday MOTD team are, as everyone has agreed, awful.

By the way, Dion is an absolute legend, but I really do think that his punditry is as useless as Hansen and Shearer's. Sorry!

I just don't rate the bloke as a presenter. He was pretty wooden and useless as radio dj, he got a job as a host of the UEFA cup as it was then, on channel five and was just as bad and now he's on BBC I still find him annoying. He has one of the most annoying voices ever, and I generally like the irish accent, his football knowledge has increased a bit since his channel 5 days but as a presenter he offers nothing extra to the programme aside from winding up the guests with pointless questions. As Battersea said, any pundits they put on with him look either bored, pissed off or both that they have to put up with him.
