I was thinking about this after Saturday: what are the most important goals we've scored this season in terms of when it came and what it meant? This is maybe a bit premature because there'll no doubt be some more important ones to come but oh well. My three: Gedo V Derby (H) - first half in that game was ****, our goalscoring problems were as bad as the last two years in the few weeks up to this game and we looked ****e in the first half. Gedo came on and instantly scored, suddenly we were playing well, had a goalscorer we could rely on and we haven't had a problem going forward (or played badly at all really) since then. Brady V Boro (H) - we weren't going to win that game until the free kick went in. Koren V Ipswich (A) - doesn't really need an explanation. Anyone else got any particular goals that stand out to you as particularly important?
Hull City on 78 points and Watford on 69 points. A 9 point gap with just 12 points left. Small margins eh ??
Has to be Proschwitz' brace at the KC vs Ipswich. Elmo's goal vs Derby was also an incredibly important goal. We were going to draw at home, and we would've been 4th if the result had been the same. With his goal, we went back up to 2nd, and we haven't looked in severe doubt since. His celebration said it all. Honestly, I don't think we've scored the most vital goal yet. That goal will be the one which actually sends us up.
Gedo's goals came at a vital time. With Aluko out it looked like a lack of goals would see us just miss out. Then Boyd's goals did the same as Gedo hit a barren spell.
