After watching footy for about 40 years now, I have seen many, many games. Excluding any NCFC matches, what's your most memorable? Strangely enough, mine was an England defeat ! It was played in the 1970 Mexico World Cup, 'The final that never was' Brazil 1 England 0. The England team still had the nucleus of that of 1966, but was widely regarded as being even better. The Brazilians, well what can I say, they were magnificent, the greatest team I have ever seen. A terrific goal from Jairzinho won the game, but the match featured several memorable moments perhaps the most famous being 'the greatest ever save' by Gordon Banks from Pele's header and Jeff Astle's miss ! <doh>
Youtube features several clips from the game, but it is also re-run in full on occasions on varoius TV channels, catch it if you can. Brazil went on to win the World Cup for the third time and were allowed to keep the Jules Rimet trophy for ever. Brazil swept aside Italy in the final, the build-up to Carlos Alberto's goal in that game was incredible, matched by a fantastic finish.

Also, as mentioned in a previous thread, the excellent commentary was provided here by the late great Hugh Johns:

And the wonder goal from the final:

    THAT'S FOOTBALL !

I have been a perenniel fan of the underdog when not watching our beloved canaries so the cup finals of the late 80s hold treasured memories of my formative years. Perhaps the most memorable one was Spurs against Coventry especially Keith Houchen's diving header.

Our very own Greg Downs collecting a FA Cup Winners medal there too ! Always felt sorry for Greg, he was a great servant to NCFC, but then missed out on arguably our finest hour when we won the League Cup at Wembley in '85.
He had the last laugh tho' !

hmm, the last few years have had there fair share it has to be said... I think in years to come we're going to remember derby at home, the Ipswich games and all the other late winners as bone-fide classics

I'm a bit of a young gun I guess, but my tournament was Euro 96. I remember it so well. I can remember my dad walking out of the room when we got to a penalty shoot out with Spain, I can remember Gazzas goal against scotland, Shearer at the top of his game. Footballs coming home.

Unfortunately It cut me deep, and when we lost that penalty shoot out to the Germans I felt the cold reality of football. I came to truly appreciate the highs and lows it brings even at that young age. I think now i'm able to appreciate the low and high times because of that tournament. It was a special one that really will go down in history, there really hasn't been one quite like it since

Many memorable Norwich matches, but as a neutral, I would probably pick the 1990 FA cup semi finals.
Palace v Liverpool and man Utd V Oldham. Both matches were goalfests.

For drama the Man United comeback against Bayern Munich and the crucial effect the arrival of Schmeichel had when he came up for the corner.

I think the Liverpool comeback against AC Milan in the champions league final from 3-0 down was pretty impressive. Normally can't stand Liverpool, but what a game of football that was.

The 1966 World Cup Final obviously ranks high with those old enough to have watched it live. City matches have been numerous but beating Palace 2-1 to stay up in 1973 was a fanatastic night. Overall it would be Real Madrid beating Eintract Frankurt 7-3 in 1960 European Cup Final was the most memorable game.

At my age it's always the last game, memory fails to remember anything longer than a week ago!
Seriously though, the most recent game must be Derby County at the end of last season, the atmosphere inside the ground was incredible, and when Simeon scored the third goal it went nuclear. Happy Happy day.

I'm with Redruth on this, The World Cup final 1966. Is that better?

If we're onto goals what about (for us oldies) Farkas goal for Hungary against Brazil 1966 WC.
And if you wanted a cotchell of wonder goals then La Tissier scored a few in his pomp.
