Hi All, We are a local business in Hull that is looking for more exposure around the local area due to an upcoming rebrand. We have recently entered into a sponsorship deal with Hull City for the 23/24 season and are now looking for some advice of any other local sponsorship/marketing opportunities that you guys might have found effective in the past for your company or ones you work for. Any advice is really appreciated, cheers!
Assisting charity groups can help the local area, demonstrate that you're socially responsible and be a cost effective way improve brand recognition compared to advertising campaigns. You'd have to be careful which groups you align with to avoid any 'political' or other backlash, but children's and/or mental or physical health charities can be good ones. I am aware of a company which, due to a high ranking director having a child with Downs Syndrome, engaged with various groups to develop ways of employing people with that condition. As well as improving their ethical profile, they have helped a lot of people, and improved profit margins. Their workforce is happier and more aware of the issues too. People will soon spot if it is just a cynical attempt at self promotion which could back fire, so picking one you have a personal interest in should help make sure you do the right thing for the right reasons, and it would be a win/win for your company and society. Sometimes the rewards can be far more than financial, and not all wealth is measured in money. There's some good information on this link. https://www.dsworkfit.org.uk/
I own a local business too, and we find that sponsorship of anything, doesn't really bring in any additional revenue to be honest. It is more of a philanthropy thing. We have sponsored local football sides, testimonials etc. and not one call has come from that saying "we saw your advertising board/shirt sponsorship" etc.
I play for a local football team called Sands United FC Hull and East Yorkshire, the players are Dads, Uncles, Brothers and those connected people who have suffered from baby loss, Sands (Still born or neonatal death) United aims to offer support for men using football as the tool to get people together and talk as much or as little about their loss Raising awareness of baby loss and the affects on men and families Also raising money to support sands nationally who then distribute money across the hospitals across the UK aswell as investing in research and equipment to reduce loss The team offers a support session each week, plays charity matches and tournaments along with taking part in social events and trying alternative sporting activities, There are around 40 clubs across the UK, Players have the chance to represent and remember their angels, keeping their names and memories alive along with supporting each other We are currently looking at getting a new home and away kit along with hosting a baby loss tournament in August with 8 teams being invited locally and nationally If anyone has suffered a loss and needs support or to talk to people who have an understanding please private message me and i can give you more details, Both recent and historical, every players story/loss is different, special and important. My son would have been 18 later this year we have players of very mixed ability and fitness, our youngest player is 16 and oldest is almost 50, I myself didn't start playing until I was 41, that was 3 years ago If you feel you could support in any way please get in touch
I love this Rich. We haven't suffered baby loss at full term but we have gone through a very long journey with IVF to have our two young children which involved miscarriages and heartache along the way so I understand a very small snippet of what you guys have been through. I'll take a look at the website etc and will be in touch.
We have a mixture of players who have suffered loss from all stages from early to full term a loss is a loss and from the moment your aware of the possibility of having a child your hopes, dreams and thoughts start to wonder and explode We represent and remember all
An excellent initiative to help people that have gone, or are going through a very painful experience. Credit to you, and good luck for the future. My apologies for missing them if they are, but if they're not there already, feel free to leave any links or contact details on the mental health discussion thread. https://www.not606.com/threads/mental-health-discussion-thread.368218/
Stay away from rugby league and if you are not putting a considerable amount of cash in, then for maximum coverage I would consider womans football. It seems to be the next big thing.
If you’re looking for maximum exposure vs cost I’d stick to online advertising, especially Facebook as that can be targeted locally too. As another poster mentioned, local sponsorships are more for philanthropy rather than getting actual results.
