Looking at the fixtures we have to come I have to say i'm really worried. Quite simply we have not taken enough points off teams we should have in the first half of the season. But for the unexpected 3 points we took off Chelsea we'd be joint bottom. Go through the fixtures yourself but my optimistic total is 18 more points leaving a total of 35! Be interesting how many others think we may end on but we have a shocking last 4 of Tottenham, Chelsea, Stoke and Man City. If we need more than 3 points going into them it's going to be tough! Something has to change. We were dire yesterday and it's real basic stuff. We don't offer any movement off the ball. I lost count of the number of times players were passed to and left with no outlet. It's basic football triangles. For all you Barton knockers watch him properly in future. He is not a creative set the world on fire player. He gets in the right position at the right time, moves for players, gives options, tracks opponents and on his day will distribute well. That was massively missed yesterday. I may be alone but I actually think he and Taarabt work. As Taarabt has returned to form their interchange has been great and given us added optons going forward. It may be a depressing first post but I'm normally optimistic and as an aside please no more singing against the team. Positive until the end of matches please, that was disgusting yesterday and trying to explain to my 6 year old why we were singing against ourselves was embarrasing (not a song I want to teach him!). Come on you rrrr's!
Welcome on board 74, I agree, with the current squad we will be hard pushed to reach 35 points let alone the 40 that may be needed even with the most optimistic view of our remaining fixtures. Unless there's an injection of quality we will face a second half of the season praying Wigan, Bolton, Blackburn and Wolves all get worse results than us, that's some hope...
Agreed, particularly the singing against the team and manager. Regardless of whether NW should go lets please not start acting like Blackburn fans.
I know you can't rely on others but one positive is that Bolton and Wigan look like going nowhere. Wigan are one of those plucky sides that can get results but IMO they are poor and will definitely go. Bolton's next few games: Saturday, 14 January 2012 Barclays Premier League Man Utd v Bolton, 15:00 Saturday, 21 January 2012 Barclays Premier League Bolton v Liverpool, 17:30 Tuesday, 31 January 2012 Barclays Premier League Bolton v Arsenal, 20:00 Saturday, 4 February 2012 Barclays Premier League Norwich v Bolton, 15:00 Saturday, 11 February 2012 Barclays Premier League Bolton v Wigan, 15:00 Saturday, 25 February 2012 Barclays Premier League Chelsea v Bolton, 15:00 Saturday, 3 March 2012 Barclays Premier League Man City v Bolton, 15:00 Anythhing can happen in football but it would be hard to imagine Bolton getting more than 10 points (and that's being kind) from these games.
DL, our run in is where we could have problems, especially if we don't reinforce the defence. Admittedly when we played Chelsea, we played better 11 v 11 and seemed to lose direction once you went own to 9 men. However, nothing is won or lost in Jan, and, there have been some strange results and at the end of the day, you don't support QPR if you like an easy life. You get on the rollercoaster at the start of the season and then you hang on for the next 9 months. Still confident we will stay up and have another derby against CFC next season.
How are we going to attract any quality with NW reportedly facing the sack this week! This is turning into more of a farce that our promotion saga! This club never fails to eventually disappoint both on and off the pitch! NW will get paid off a shed load, our better players will be sold on and not exactly lose any sleep, and the only ones who will be sad and frustrated will be us fans! I wish I didn't like bloody football so much.
The way this PL season is panning out the mythical 40 points margin to stay up could go out the window. The top teams have taken far more points off the lower teams than normal. 75 points would normally guarantee a top four finish, this season it might not get you fifth place! This meaning the relegation candidates having less points than normal. 37-38 points could be enough. Good post Ranger74 and welcome. With your prediction and my theory we're still 2-3 points short. A win at the bridge will sort that
In a previous post I asked if 42 points was enough as that was what I had worked out at the start of the season (at the time of that post we were on schedule) unfortunately we are currently 7 points behind schedule so it is becoming a little more alarming and even an optimist like me is getting worried. Welcome on board.
