Lot of love on here for his fella for the Foxhunters. Missed his prep run yesterday apparently. Haven't heard why, whether he's had a setback or what, but hardly inspires confidence for the festival when they scratched him. Anyone know why and is he still on track for the Festival?
Haven't a clue why he missed his prep yesterday and have scoured twitter (which is generally the best source of info with regards to this sort of thing) and there hasn't been a jot of word about it. He's still solid on Betfair so I doubt its a setback but I literally have no clue why he didn't run and cannot find out any information at the moment.
The rumour is beefy that he has missed some work and was "not ready". Likely to go straight to the Festival. As ROTO says he is solid on Betfair so hopefully nothing shockingly amiss.
Where you get that info Stick. Been desperate to find something out! I'd say he'll do a piece of work after racing at Leopardstown at the weekend (apparently did the same earlier this month).
I read what stick said few week's back on the RUK app. It was basically saying he was touch and go for the festival at this stage. Hopefully he does make it or the ante post bet's are well and truly fooked!
A gentleman never reveals ROTO. Just did a bit of digging as he is of huge interest on here. Without a prep he will be ten months off the track. Not the ideal prep for the Festival even if it is only the Foxhunters!
Yeah not ideal prep at all which has got to be a big worry. That said, the more I look at the opposition the more I think he doesn't need to be anywhere near fit to win. A fully fit Mossey with an ideal prep and he'd have the race sewn up by half way. I've a lot of cash riding on him but I'll be more disappointed for the horse more than anything if he doesn't make it. Undoubtedly the most talented horse in training never to have had any real big day in the sun in my opinion.
At a preview night over here, Paddy Mullins basically singing off the same hymn sheet as me. If he runs within a stone of his best he wins and basically if he turns up he wins. Barry Geraghty (knows Mossey well) says better ground is key. I'd agree that he's a much better horse on quick ground but as long as it isn't heavy he'd be grand.
Kildorrey was bottomless yesterday so perhaps they didn't want to exert him on ground like that before his reappearance. Most logical answer I think.
I don't know if there is anything sinister in this or whether its a declaration stage today but BETFAIR have suspended betting on the Foxhunters!
I noticed that as well but they did the same with the Mares Hurdle and I think it's to do with the entries being out tomorrow.
Mossey Joe 5/1 NRNB with PP. In again I go! Apparently (I haven't seen it personally) Barry Connell said to the RP that he was "as sound as a pound"
Twitter rumours from Declan Rix (works for ATR) that Mossey might not travel to Cheltenham. That caused him to drift to 7/1 on Betfair but back into 5.7 at the moment. Hardly strong on the exchanges though. Will be devastated if the horse doesn't make it to Cheltenham as its another potential day in the sunshine he'd be missing out on; a day in the sun he so richly deserves.
Don't know what to believe ROTO. As you know I heard that he was not right to run on Saturday and a potential doubt to go to Cheltenham. Then only yesterday BarrY Connell says he goes to Cheltenham and then hopefully the National and now today there is a very strong rumour that the horse misses the Festival. If you have backed him and are going to lose money I would seriously think about laying a bit off while you can! It stinks! Actually no one in the queue to back him at any price right now!!!!
Story on ATR website stating that connections will make a decision next week - if the horse is working well then he'll go to the festival.
I'd have thought that is fairly good news tbh and Barry Connell certainly doesn't come across as someone who is looking to dick over the punters by lying. Glad to see Damian Skehan will keep the ride too.
