Hey-ho everyone Anyone expected to win yesterday? Me neither... I did a bad thing last night actually.... When Leeds scored, I made a bet on Hull to win as their odds were 11/2, and I'd be more than happy lo lose a tenner, and if Hull had won, at least £65 would ease the pain. Anyone ever done anything similar. Anyone out thewre that thinks I'm wrong to do that??? Suddenly Alex Bruce does not seem that bad, does he? Our defence have conceded 8 goals in three games. We have won 3 midweek games in 23, and we have had back to back defeats. Surprisingly, Warnock sounded very upbeat. He said the lads gave it there all. He also said that the first player to come back from injury should be Paul Green in another two weeks. Ross may be out for a while.... He also claimed that all trhe good loanees had already gone out to other Championship clubs and had approached other Premiership Managers only to be turned down at his request for players. He made it clear that there was nothing in the pipeline. All depressing stuff really, but as I was saying he was very upbeat... The joint thread with Hull went as well as could be expected. Well done everyone, and a big thankyou to Enoch for a great Match thread. Dilema of the day If it meant the only way to get rid of Bates would be to get relegated, how would you feel?
Josh, I felt bad about it. Obviously I wanted Leeds to win, and I didn't really care about a tenner but didn't trust the team to win the game soi thought I would cover my bet
Morning all. No surprises here last night either and don't expect anything from next two games. Two more beatings could be a blessing in disguise, finally ridding the club of its current ownership. I struggled to find a description of Bates. Didn't hear Warnock interview, glad he has something to be upbeat about, us fans sure haven't. Program notes seemed to hint strongly though that the bearded one is close to signing.
Morning Eire, Bates' puppet Eddie Gray kept mentioning the confidentiality clause that meant Bates could not discuss the matter. I would gladly write off this season in order to get rid of Bates
Morning all. I said we would lose that one. El, nowt wrong with exploiting your knowledge of our general dungerism
Alrite Bucks All, I've added a dilema of the day to the bottom of the thread, oooh, I don't even know what I would do
No second thoughts I would get relegated in a heart beat. We arent going anywhere under bates and we are joint on points with newly promoted Wednesday (I think) not to mention with a bit of investment you can fly up the leagues like Norwich/Southampton did
I also felt it was a defeat in the making, I also feel a point from our next game would be the most we can expect. I actually feel this season is more painful than last, things feel like they are getting worse not better. As for injuries - give us the full preferred starting 11 and we still would not have won. Full squad we are a mid table team, injury threatened and we will be fighting it out at the bottom. My respect for NW is starting to falter as a manager as well. He brought these players in, he spent the largest chunk of his money on Peltier, he is experienced enough to know and see what is going on and he is now saying there are no quality loan signings left when he decided to move for Tonge over Danns and Jennas? He sold Clayton and we have replaced him with Varney, Diouf, Green, Norris?? - take your pick. He signed the best LB in the division (his words) and doesn't play him?? YES he wasn't given the funds to finish the job, just a shame we brought the players who were the grunt workers, the grafters, the ones who were going to make us harder to beat before moving for the marquee signings. Those players that were going to make us harder to beat, yes the same ones who are watching everyone slicing through like a knife through butter. I actually feared this when we played a friendly against Preston, they were all over our midfield and better finishing and we would have been stuffed. I expected us to grind our results, instead 6 goals conceded at home in the last two matches, 8 in three games and when we go behind you never feel that we are going to pull it back.
Morning, all BBC state the crowd was 19,750. What do people think about less than 20k for a game with a nearby team? (I can't bring myself to call it a derby). I was going to say how low it was until I checked the other games - still the second highest on the night, Derby had just over 20k. All the same, even for a midweek, I bet Bates would have been budgeting on 23-24k, not under 20k. That would cost him the best part of £3m if replicated over a season - shame. Other than that spot of brightness, pretty depressed today. Another wasted season in prospect, while "lesser clubs" who used to be alongside us are now up in the Prem. Just hope we do hold onto mid table and it does not get worse. I suppose if he finds that missing pen, we could still have a decent second half to the season, better look on the bright side.
A lot of Hull fans were rightly complaining about the ticket price, they were not willing to pay that amount when the ticket for their next game against Leicester was half of what we were charging. We also have a home game against Forest on Saturday, you are talking of fans forking out around £100 for the week to watch the **** type of performances we are getting. For me travelling up from Northampton it would cost me the best part of £100 per game with a ticket to get in (includes something to eat, fuel, programme, drink etc).
Just took a look at the fixtures - next two games Forest home, Bristol C away - 1 point is my prediction. 8 points from 8 games is relegation zone - what a little ray of sunshine I am today
Morning All, Don't really want to talk about last night = too depressing. One thing I do have to mention, however, was Poleon's performance. It's my first sight of the lad, and I was impressed. For some reason, I thought he was in the mould of Beccio. Don't ask me why, but that's what I somehow assumed. I was pleasantly surprised last night. He's strong, sharp, pacy & with completely unexpected dribbling skills out on the wing. I honestly believe that he should be starting the next game. Varney you say? Now don't get me started on him .....
Yes, agreed on the money, and we'd have more if people thought we'd put on a performance. I run a small business myself, and I have noticed a really strange thing - if you offer customers a crap product, they don't tend to buy it. Clearly a business supremo like Bates will have spotted this one already. I suspect the people like me, who are avoiding home games until there's some investment in the product on sale, were not the main reason for the poor gate (though, tbf, I would not have been there anyway for a midweek, given its 450 miles round trip).
He sounded lively when he came on but the midfield couldnt get the ball to him enough. Same as Byram judging by the commentary. Just watching the goals now, pure comedy defending again.
I know they outplayed us and deserved the win but I thought we had left defending like that behind us.... Hull fans can't fault Bruce, I am just lost for words.
I know mate. Its like our backline is cursed. Look at Crainey and Dan Harding as other examples to go alongside Bruce!
