    Morning Everyone,

No guesses what we are going to talk about today!!!

Two signings in 24 hours. Its the kinda stuff dreams are made of!!! <doh>

Which one is the better signing.

Blackstock hasn't been finding the back of the net for Forest, but can he come good for us. He's 27, that's near as dammit the peak for a footballer. He is 6-1. Interesting on his wiki page it says :-

Despite interest from Leeds United, he signed a new four and a half-year contract with Forest on 24 January 2013. But his desire and passion to play for Leeds eventually payed off and he signed for Leeds United on a 3 month loan on 24th October 2013, saying It's a dream come true.

    Hmmmmmmm.....

Would we expect Dexter to stay at Huddersfield, and if so, would imagine Smith would drop to the bench. Would there be any chance McDermott would start with McCormack, Dexter and Smithy?

We have also made a contract offer to defender Marius Zaliukas.

The Lithuanian international defender has been training with Leeds for the past week and Leeds boss Brian McDermott says he is close to landing the former Heart of Midlothian captain, who has been a free agent since leaving Tynecastle in the summer.

Morning. Can't see Blackstock starting, but I can see him replacing either Poleon or Hunt on the bench. Either that, or we have 3 attackers on the bench. If we go with the same formation as last week, I would imagine that MZ would be on the bench as CB cover. Can't quite decide about these two yet. But if, as reported elsewhere, Varney's contract is up at the end of the season, I would imagine he'll move on and Blackstock will be offerred a 2 year deal if he proves his worth.

As to the game, if we start off anything like we did last week, it could be a cricket score in our favour. But if BMD elects to tinker with the team, who knows what'll happen. Me, I think BMD has found the formula that we can use (352 with wingbacks) and we'll win comfortably 3-0.

    Morning tarts :emoticon-0117-talki

I'm still not convinced about Blackstock, although we have to go along with the manager. Brian knows the kid from when he was a junior and then Oxford and Southampton, so we have to assume he knows how to get the best out of him. Blackstock was obviously one of the targets he was chasing because we went for him in January. Will we play him as a striker and if we do will he be a better option than Smith who deserves to start after getting a good hat-trick last week (He was on side) Hunt scored a hat-trick mid week so deserves to be involved, so maybe a bench appearance against uddersfax. Could he be the wide player we've been wanting?

Marius will be a star if he signs and will create competition or how about Lees, Pearce, Marius, Wootton and Warnock, with Byram in front of Lees. White also had a good game mid week and played the wing back role creating goals for Hunt? Is it all starting to click?

After watching our performance last week, I'm expecting at least another 4 goals for us and maybe climbing a couple of places. These next 3 or 4 matches should all be 3-points each for us.

    Morning all <ok>

Marius is the better signing of the two for me. It shows that Brian is thinking about sticking with the 3 CBs, and if thats the case then we needed to add another quality CB for competition and cover. Blackstock may well come good for us, but I can't see him going straight into the starting 11 this weekend.

As for Hunt, Doc, I think he might make it back to the bench, but if we stick with 3-5-2 then I just don't see where Hunt fits into the starting 11 now. Ross playing slightly behind either Smith or Blackstock I'd expect to be our attack, with wingbacks in the form of Byram and Warnock (though White very well might get another chance in that role). If this system sticks, we might need some cover for RWB though, as I don't think I'd be that comfortable with Peltier playing that role.

Fair points Doc. Only one thing, sorry to say but Smith was offside for his third "goal", only by the length of his arm & the thickness of his chest. But it still counts as offside. That said, I can see him scoring 2 or 3 more tomorrow if we play as we did in the first half of last week.

    Morning all,

It's been said that Leeds United have the most reactionary fans in the country, and that's very true.

Amazing how the mood has changed from doom, gloom and depression to overly positive within the space of a few days.

    Morning all

I am expecting the starting lineup to be pretty much as the Brum game. Dexter on bench. Interesting White did ok, the wingback role is probably ideal for him, though I am still not convinced he is good enough, if he gets a last chance to show he is, all well and good.

On Dexter, hope the reason BM gave in the press conf is not the real one (to shut up all the questions about when is he going to sign someone)

I have watched the Smith "goal" a few times, I think it was - just - offside though many refs would have said in line and given benefit of doubt. I am more in the camp it would have been an awesome goal to score, so I'm sorry it did not count. Leeds60 has said he's the new John Charles, right down to his dna spirals, and who are we to argue?

You have to have a bit of optimism, both signings seem to me to be on the right lines (though the CB is not signed yet, is he? - could still fall apart, that one). On paper we ought to be trying to exceed 4 goals, as its only Huddersfield.................... but, somehow, I have a feeling it won't be like that. A scrappy 0-1 win with the goal bouncing in off Wootton or Pearce will do me.

Too right LiE. Not often we lead at half time 3-0 knowing it could easily have been 4 or 5, and in the process play some really good stuff. We now have a Manager who is slowly but surely turning our fortunes around. We also have a Board who back the Manager at least to a degree. In short, everyone can see that we're now heading in the right direction.

We may go up this year or we may not. But the dark days of iffy Chairmen, hoofball, and stagnation would seem to be over. Keep the faith one and all. In BMD we trust. MOT

Those of use without LS11 addresses will have no problem: http://www.cafc.co.uk/tickets/ticket-prices/

Incidentally, for those Leeds fans worried they have lived far too long in the south, you may want to check the following to ensure you are still retaining Northern characteristics. Millwall fans, I don't think you will have a problem, other than not knowing what most of the words mean, of course ("Job Centre" in particular may require a bit of googling).

    Morning All.

Boggers, re. the 'offside', I remember the ruling that there should be 'daylight' between the players. No mention of arms or chest girth! So clearly onside in my view. (Don't you just love pedants?).

Fair point Jock. What can best be described as a close call. Where's that 'kin' linesman who gave Jeff Astle onside all those years ago, or the Russian linesman for "that goal" in '66. Never around when you 'em!!!!

Let's hope he scores a hat trick this saturday.

Unfortunately the daylight part has been removed for a while now. If I remember rightly, the new determination is that if any part of your body that you can legally play the ball with is passed level with the defender you're offside. Much more difficult for linesmen with that to work out!

People still going on about Smith's offside, he was offside, it only took one replay to see it was offside. I didn't think it was that controversial to be honest

That was a goal if it had been over the pennines at OT, and we would have the penalty shout too <laugh>

Agreed, and it's not as though it was a vital, game changing decision
