Good Morning everyone, 17 games to go and we slip into the second half of the table after a disappointing but inspiring performance at home against the high flying blue (red) birds. A failed clearance from Byram led to a strike on goal from Bellamy which was then intercepted and turned in by Campbell on his debut. On the whole it was a much improved performance. We had as many chances as they did, in fact we has a lot more strikes towards goal than Cardiff, and more corners. Vey interesting to see how players are performing against expectation. I have been very impressed with White in the last two games. I did not think much of Browns performance, and Austin has started to disappoint me, especially with the amount of times he gives the ball away or carelessly gives away dangerous free kicks. How much better does Peltier look at centre back. He is like a new player. So, 17 games left, 6 points off the play offs, though our goal difference is awful, so we better say 7. We have Forest, Milllwall, Derby, Brighton and Burnley chasing Middlesborough in sixth place. Can it still happen??? Who believes it can?
I'm gonna stand up and be counted. I reckon we have the strongest defence we have had for 6 years with :- Kenny Byram White / Warock Lees Peltier
Who would have thought that all three of the clubs that were relegated from the Prem last season would all be in the bottom half of the table. 13th, 20th and 21st. It will be a lot harder for them next season when their parashoot payments have stopped.
Morning Elland, morning those joining. Not only do I also think we have the best defence we have had for ages, if Warnock gets the chemistry in midfield right, we also have a very strong midfield. All we need is to be able to fit all the pieces of the jigsaw together. Cardiff are top of the league & appearing to be running away with it. But they certainly weren't that awesome on Saturday. If they were as good as they're supposed to be, the should have beaten us hollow. But they relied on a poor clearance from Byram to scrape an iffy victory. Had our Everton loanee brought his shooting boots with him, we would and should have scored at least twice. Next up we're off to Wolves who are struggling. If we are to get anything from this season, it has to start with a healthy victory at Molynieux. As you say Elland, our Goal Difference is worth another point to all thos above us, but it is something we can do something about.
Elland they get 4-years at £12m per year for parachute payments now mate, so hardly a level playing field. There are still teams in this league getting it who have squandered it too.
Morning Bopggers, Cardiff have had a lot of 1-nil's, and have the ability to kill a game off. I'd like to see a bit more passion from the faithful
Morning all. Dont get carried away on the parachute payment thing. Thats one of bates famous gripes. Its there, because clubs like wolves have players like Doyle still on 30 or 40k a week. Dont forget these are all relegated teams that were poor in the pl so all they are mainly doing is paying ridiculous wakes to mediocre players. Birmingham and Blackburn have huge debts despite their parachute payments. Norwich and Southampton were both able to win promotion without these payments.
The whole atmosphere at ER has been gradually eroded over the last 3-seasons. When we won promotion from L1 everyone expected that we were on the way back. Bates decided to sell our better players and instead of winning back to back promotions we finished 7th due to lack of investment. Been going backwards ever since and Bates and his promises of prem football if we carried on paying prem prices, has seen a backlash. fans have had enough and although everyone seemed to be in better spirits this summer due to the takeover talks. We've seen nothing much except more of the same and still paying higher prices than most prem clubs for garbage football. We've all seen what can happen with the right amount of ambition (Newcastle, West Ham, Swansea, Norwich, Southampton) Under Bates the game was about ripping off the fans to line his own pockets, and if we don't see achange by GFH, we'll still be struggling next season whilst smaller clubs go past us.
regretting the name change to be fair. Who would have thought a 6"5 beast like Habibou could be such a ****ing wimp he got pushed over by everyone
20 mins into his first game Yabba is a bit soon to cast the poor fella aside. But he is only on loan. So maybe we'll get to see what it was that pursuaded Warnock & co. to at least give him a loan deal.
You need as much time to make your mind up about Habibou as you did Forssell when he joined, I actually think Forssell was better, did anyone really need to see him play when you look at the failed trials and lack of interest from anyone else?? If this was Bates and Grayson it would be scraping the Barrel, because it is GFH and Warnock it is give him time.
I like him - he brightened up an otherwise **** day Was funny as **** watching him clucking round looking for his head
Habibou was worth a go I guess, but I think I'd rather have Somma on the bench, at least he looks like he wants the ball...
