Morning Everyone, Surprise Surprise, guess what the main topic of today is ??? Lets start with a statement earlier this morning From Warnock :- âIâm looking to sign midfield players, and the contract Adamâs representatives were looking for, we werenât prepared to go to that extent." âComing into the last year it makes sense to see if they can get that offer somewhere else and if we can get an appropriate figure itâs the sort of money I can use to improve the squad." âBut if he hasnât gone, heâll come back and itâs up to him to show us he can get in the team, get his position, and then heâs in the driving seat going up to Christmas". Can't believe he was transfer listed. Surely, we should be building a squad for the future, not getting rid of them once they ask for extra pocket money. Some sites are reporting that Clayton is a luxory player we can do without which drifts in and out of games. Thoughts? Thompson is due to go out on loan for next season, probably the right thing to do... It was reported last night that our first signature will arrive at ER on Friday..... Is this to soften us up for the departure of Clayton, or Snodds Maik Taylor has gone to the Wall. With NW releasing / transfer listing over half the squad. How many of our unwanted players will end up at Millwall. 3, 4, 5 or even 6??? The remaining players that we do not want, which clubs can we see them ending up at??
Morning - It seems the decision on Clayton and his contract demands being met or not are in Warnocks hands. Without the truth of what was actually asked for it is hard to say if he is worth it or not, you would like to think it was under £12k and you would like to think it would be worth it but we have only had one decent season out of him and that was a season where he did drift, we did finish 14th and we did lose a record number of home games. I mentioned before and with all things considered and looking back at the season just finished; should we really care who leaves and who is replaced? The more the better surely because the only thing worse for us would have been a relegation dog fight.
Morning Ristac, a well known sports journalist and fellow Leeds fan was reporting he wanted 9k a week
Morning all. Clayts situation will resolve itself eventually. But we need to think about how valuable Clayton really is. How many games did he run/manage/dominate from CM? Others have suggested that we maybe able to do better. If were really going to push on this season, we do need a box to box CM who can run the show, hopefully leaving Brown to hold things up & break up attacks from the opposition. Seatbelts on, we're in for a bumpy ride.
Lets all remember, this is Clayts first real season, that he is not playing for the reserves or out on loan, and he is only gonna get better. I wouldn't want to lose him for 1m as I don't believe we could buy better
I would like to keep him and I feel he is worth 9k a week even if that is coming off the bench, I would hope that it means we are getting two new CM's because I would not like the thought of Brown playing in place of Clayton. I agree Boggers, he hasn't been that spectacular, I am pretty sure we wouldn't miss him like we missed Gradel but I also agree with ellandback, I feel it would cost at least if not more than £1million to even think about replacing him and that figure doesn't include the fact he is only 23 - We must for now trust Warnock, horses for courses and maybe Clayton isn't the midfield general we need to be building a promotion winning team around.
Morning all. Very risky strategy, but if you had too choose someone to pull it off its Warnock. All though you fear for him with Bates on his back. Unless he plans on getting good cash for Clayton, it seems strange. One of the better crop last season. We need to really get a move on and get ahead of everyone else in the transfer market.
Morning all If Clayts wanted 9k a week, who are we going to sign thats better than him for that ammount? In other news I think I am a little bit in love with Alex Hammond. I know theres much fitter sky sports presenters but she does it for me Elland, welcome to Twitter, I will start following you later. Look on my profile & follow all the LUFC connections (95% of who I follow is connected to Leeds) also make sure you follow Kissa, hes comedy gold
We are all assuming that Clayts will go. He's transfer listed, & yes we may get a bid that would be difficult to turn down. But if, as he may have suggested, he is keen to stay, maybe he'll lower his financial sights a bit & re-sign. His going isn't a done deal yet.
Just been freaked out here at work, our HR Dept just introduced to me a guy who has joined the organisation....he ****ing looks like Ken bastard Bates wow Morning all by the way.....(i need a drink)
Morning all, It's true that Clayton might stay, and with all of the different rumours flying around it's hard to know what to believe. What I'm sort of picking up on though is that Warnock doesn't particularly see him as a starting player week in week out, whereas Clayts will obviously think he is, and that could well be leading to a massive difference in valuation. I think I'm going to have to use that much overused phrase relating to Leeds... "Think we'll have to wait and see on this one!" (Oh and bad luck Doha, not a great first impression for him to make! )
I admit I was absolutely gutted when I heard this news but when I think about it im not arsed! Clayton goes missing plenty of games He isn't fit enough to play saturday and midweek games (runs like hes got lead boots) There are plenty of players just as good and better who will want a lot less money and have a lot more experience at this level Montgomery Eustace Leadbitter Clingan Derry Id also take a punt on someone like Samir Carruthers
I'm with Kissa on this - Clayton's had one half decent season at this level. Yes, he will definitely improve, but as it stands, he isn't the experienced (and no, that doesn't necessarily mean old!) consistent midfield general we need! If we bought in Derry and Clingan, and possibly someone more creative depending on whether we play 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1, I think we'll be fine. In 4-2-3-1, we'd need two midfielders to sit anyway, with the 3 in front of them largely responsible for the creative side of things, so I think two from Brown and someone like the players Kissa mentioned would fit in fine. Obviously in a 4-4-2 one of the midfielders would require some level of creativity.
Simon either way im not bothered, in fact im happy because at least this season Warnocks got rid of **** players aswell as 1 good one, Last season we got rid of no **** players and rid of 5 good ones! Claytons a good player but there are plenty of good players around that can come in Many times this season he has been brilliant and looked class on the ball but equally hes spent a lot of it running around chasing shadows and his fitness in the last 20 o so games was poor.
