Hey Peeps, A good weekend all around. Our prospective new owners watch us keep a clean sheet and collect three valuable points against one of the promotion favourites, and McCormack signs a new deal. Who was the main of the match? Is Diouff warming to you??? If you compare Saturdays performance against the first day of last season, where we were ripped apart at will at St Marys, can anyone say we have not moved forward???
Morning. 1. Austin. 2. No. 3. About the same - that team had class but no grit, this team has grit but no class. Bear in mind who we were playing: a team with positive momentum rather than negative.
Morning Elland. Good positive start. 8 new players coing together & doing enough to beat a side likely to be in the mix at the end of the season. What's not to like about that? Add in McCormack signing a new contract. All in all, a good weekend. Let's hope we can continue at Blackpool tomorrow. Maybe & to add to the feel good factor, we'll get new owners this week. Let's hope so.
Morning chaps. I think this day week, we'll be better able to assess our capabilities. Three more points this week, I'll be chuffed. Great to see a clean sheet at Elland Road and for me Austin was man of the match. Might even become a modern day David Batty for us. A bit worried re takeover though. Strong rumours on waccoe last night that everything agreed but Bates not signing despite advice to do so from his own lawyers. No one can understand his stance. Add to that, BIG advising yesterday we are facing another administration if it doesnt go through. Its difficult to concentrate on the on field activities. I hope we dont finish the season wondering "what if"
Morning Jerrel, welcome to the Morning thread, its been a while . We have undoubtably lost class, but believe (with two more class signings) we WIL be a force to be reckoned with.
Morning Boggers, yep, blackpool will not be as easy, especially away from home. I'd settle for a 0-0. Think it will be a different kinda team. Think Brown may come in to help out with defending. Who's gonna do the Blackpool match thread, any takers???
After Southampton last season we were all gutted, and very, very worried. That ghost has been laid to rest, and yes early days, but Wolves will be up there, and we will only get better I hope. We won every 50/50 ball and the spirit looks good. Austin seems to be the man, and at last we have someone who can change a game by either stopping the opposition, taking a shot or making a killer pass.
Agreed with everything excpet I think we are slightly better this season but only slightly. The difference being is this type of team is more likely to do well in the championship I feel but if we were to get to the prem it would be nowhere near the standard required and would probably need another overhaul
Morning Doc, big siogh of relief <phew>. Mixed reports on Green, and a lot of negativity. Don't know why???
Elland, I was surprised by Green and thought he did ok. Seems like he definitely has something to offer I expected him to be pure ****e
Yea, 2 wingers I feel... YEa, I dont know why I did assume he was awful. Don't get me wrong though I don't think he is amazing but can do a job
Morning all - Austin for man of the match, better than last season? I shall reserve judgement until after the Blackpool game. Midweek fixtures were a nemesis for us last season, I know Wolves are a fancied team but I thought they would be better, obviously a team in need of a major shake up so how much was down to them being poor and us being determined??? Green should be contesting for a central spot, we need someone with flair and pace for the right and left if we are going to be promoted. I am hoping Peltier moves back to RB and Lees to partner Pearce in the middle, would also like to see Drury at LB and would White be any worse than Varney LM? Maybe have White running the legs off them down the left before putting Diouf on for the final 20 minutes?
Morning Ristac. I would assume that if Lees is fully fit, he & Pearce will be CBs leaving Drury & Peltier as L & R Bs. This would also allow White to add pace & width on one side with an other on the other. We still need more creativity, but as long as we're winning, we can take time to develop a more ceative style.
Morning all, Think we do need more creativity, but as has been said if we keep getting results like that then the team should only become stronger, and one or two wide players could really make the difference. I can't see Pelts staying in the middle when Lees is fully fit, and if that does end up being the plan we need another RB. Thought Byram did a good job, but not sure he is ready to be starting week in week out just yet. Also not sure how Lees would react to being backup in CB position after how much praise NW heaped on him at the end of last season and over summer
Morning all.Don't know why people thought he would be ****e,never seen him have a bad game against us.And always won his battles with howson and co.Diouff-yes please
