    Late Morning,

    How is everyone,

Cannot believe UEFA have blocked Englands plans to wear shirts with poppies embroded on em for their forthcoming friendly against Spain. Apparantly Uefa don't allow 'potitical statements'. How paying respect to the millions that have laid down their lives for us, can be shown as a political statemenrt, is beyond me. Shame on you UEFA :emoticon-0149-no:

On Grella's second start for Brentford last night, he scored 4 past Bournemouth. Can't help but feel did not get a fair chance at ER.

Grayson has been defending Howson in the papers. He's been quoted as saying 'He's a pleasure to work with, and leads by example', and he is a 'top player'. Sign your new contract Jonny

Morning Elland, morning all. On the poppies, any idea what the punishment would be if the FA told UEFA to go forth & the players wore poppies anyway?

On Grella, I also agree that he may not have had much of a chance, but he never actually delivered much at Leeds. Always looked as though he might, but it never came to anything. Good luck to the lad I say.

Hope Howson does indeed sign a new contract. Would just help to confirm the club is continuing to move in the right direction with the Academy leading the way.

England have been warned that if they wear the shirt with poppies, the match will be cancelled. How dare they, how can it be a political statement ??????

With all the facilities we have at Thorp arch, you'd think our academy would flurish. Morning all btw....

The ref can call the game off if we have the poppies printed. Out-****ing-rageous!

We will get around it though by wearing them on our tracky tops during the national anthem.

Even the Germans have backed us!

    Morning all <ok>

I think Howson will sign if we're doing well and showing some ambition in January. Everything he and others have been saying suggests he's looking for assurance that Leeds United will be playing PL football in the near future.

Let him call the game off Bucks, the PL managers would be grateful. Wembley or whoever loses a bit of money. Who cares?

Why does it matter whether footballers wear poppies on the kits or not? They haven't done so in the past when they've played games on this occasion and no one said anything. It's only because it's now cheap, easy and quick to print a poppy symbol on a football shirt that this is an issue.

If you don't wear a poppy, does it mean you are disrespecting the people who died in WW1 and 2? No. Wear one if you want. There's an obsession with getting every public figure to wear one at all times around remembrance day.

And for the record, the poppy isn't just a British thing. It's a symbol used in countries around the world to respect the dead who died at war.

It's petty and stupid for FIFA to actually come out and say that the team aren't allowed to do so, but whether the team do or not, it doesn't make a difference.

To me, the poppy has become a symbol, almost an education, to remember, to respect and honour the millions who have laid down there lives in years gone post (the two World Wars). Its not in any way to celebrate winning, but as a mark of respect. FIFA CAN GO **** THEMSELVES. I say, play the game, with the poppies on the shirts, make a stand, lets not be pushed around.

Its a matter of principal BF. If players across the land wear poppies for games leading up to Rememberance Day, why the phark can't the National team do it?

FIFA have now agreed a compromise & poppies will be worn on armbands. A good get out for FIFA.
