Morning All, Leeds travel down to Selhurst Park tomorrow for what surely must be Warnocks last throw of the dice. Leeds have not won at Palace since 2006 when Rob Hulse and Robbie Blake's goals were enough to bring three valuable points back to Elland Road. You may recall back in November Leeds pulled off a unexpected 2-1 home victory during a time when the Eagles were souring at the top of the Championship. That was of course when we had Becchio. The question has to be who's gonna bang in the goals for Leeds? We have not scored in the league in the first half since Boxing day. Ian Holloway is considering resting top scorer Glenn Murray. He has not scored on three outings, and even though he has 28 goals to his name, his starting position is not guanteed, (are you listening McCormack). Phillips is in a rich vain of form, after scoring a hattrick against the tigers in midweek. What a nice dilema to have!!! Holloway also has Aaron Wilbraham and Stephen Dobbie waiting in the wings, so he could take Murray out of the firing line against Leeds on Saturday. Warnock is still reeling after his side gifted a last minute goal against Leicester on Tuesday. 'Leeds should have taken all three points against Leicester after a really good performance but if you invite teams onto you in the final minutes they will inevitably score'. 'So, off the top of my head thatâs three points dropped at Middlesbrough, two at Wolverhampton and another two at Leicester. Seven points would have taken us a point behind fifth place. Thatâs the difference between success and failure'. 'Leeds are on their travels again this weekend when we visit Crystal Palace, a ground nearly as unlucky for us as Barnsley'! 'The last time we faced Palace, GFH had just tied up the deal to purchase Leeds United and a spirited team performance saw us win 2-1 and the game was a turning point sending Leeds on a winning run'. The injury-time goal scored by Michael Keane was the first conceded by Leeds in four games but Iâm expecting the same back five. Paddy Kenny, Sam Byram, Tom Lees, Lee Peltier and Stephen Warnock have made a great impression on the fans since coming together. The midfield lately has picked itself with Paul Green, Michael Tonge and David Norris playing really well, the latter unlucky not to get a goal on Tuesday. I would change a front position with El-Hadji Diouf replacing Steve Morison as he had a very poor game at Leicester and that would let Ross McCormack play a more central role with Diouf wider. The last place would go to Luke Varney. Much has been made of Neil Warnockâs lack of substitutions in games â myself, I would have used at least one on Tuesday pushing Varney up front in the middle with Ryan Hall or Diouf coming on. For a tall player Morison doesnât win enough balls in the air and his âhold upâ play is not what youâd expect of somebody who cost us a few quid. Luciano Becchio might have had a few critics but we are certainly missing his presence and goals.
Morning all - I have a sneaky feeling those with hope still left in them will have it ripped out of them tomorrow. I hope we can get something from this then again I am hoping we get a new manager in for the long term before this season concludes
Morning all. Looking forward to the match. Tuesday was seriously disappointing. So let's hope we can take our frustrations out on Palace. Really not sure why Hall and/or Habibou aren't getting much game time. So I hope they both play some part in tomorrow's match. Unfortunately, unless there are any injuries, I suspect Warnock will start with the same XI as Tuesday. I agree with your comment Elland that it would be nice to see Ross & Diouf up front. Doubt it will happen though. Going for another draw unfortunately, which would in all but name end our season. Hope I'm wrong. Who's coming down?
