Morning Everyone, Leeds entertain Blackpool tonight. Traditionally over the last three years Blackpool have been a bogey team of Leeds, and if you couple it together with the fact that it is a midweek game, and Warnock admitting last week that the play offs are very unlikely, I don't hold too much hope of winning tonight. Come off the back of a 4-0 victory, and throwing away a 2-1 lead against Wolves before that Leeds morale must be wavering, so be will interesting to see what Warnock does differently. Will it be a new formation? Will he throw some youngsters in? Will he award Michael Brown a new 5 year contract? Leeds are hopeful midfielder Paul Green will recover from the ankle injury which stopped him from featuring in the FA Cup defeat against Manchester City. Sam Byram suffered a cut lip during Sunday's 4-0 defeat, but manager Neil Warnock has no other injury concerns. Paul Ince takes charge of his first match as Blackpool boss and is likely to recall son Tom who was a substitute for the weekend defeat at Ipswich. Defender Bob Harris is expected to miss out because of a toe injury.
Tonight's game is for me the most significant game, and season defining point of the season. There have been some green shoots of recovery recently, without getting the rewards, although we were outclassed against City. If we fail tonight I believe we'll be fighting with the lower relegation teams, but a good win with a good performance could see us get closer to those in the play off positions. We should take heart and confidence with a good performance. We need to see some left tit from everyone and that includes Warnock, otherwise he may as well fook off
Morning all. Won't ge a good performance but think we might scramble three points from a poor match. Pity if we cant give that sixth spot a run because none of the teams challenging for it look any great shakes. 71 or 72 points could make it this year, but at the moment that looks out of our reach. The longer were still in contention, the longer Warnock may stay and greater chance Adkins/DiCanio will go elsewhere. On a different note, I see gfh are changing their stories once again. Adam Pope reporting from an interview with them yesterday that Patel says we now have relatively little debt. Thats changed in eight weeks from debt free. All in their own words which they seem to have a knack with. Typical bankers maybe
Morning all. At least there's a chance we won't get stuffed 5-1 by a bottom 3 side!!! Let's at least see some decent stuff & a few kids being given a chance. Poleon's out on loan till the end of the season. But it would be nice to see Dawson given 10 or 15 mins towards the end of the game given that he has already played this week for the development squad. Possibly worth starting with Habibou & Ross, with Hall out wide one side & White giving width & pace on the other. I think 'pool players will be out to impress the Guvner. So anything's possible. Just no hoofball please
They also said the have paid for the club in full and that the club is financially in safe hands with them. Also investment is not needed to fund transfers as money is in place. How about being positive instead of trying to pull them to pieces all of the time. Shameful
Relative to who though - Man Utd's £500M debt or the £30M Leicester owe their owners after trying to buy promotion? The £50M debt accrued by Derby or the £35M that Bristol City have? Don't see why Leeds fans are making a fuss about £2M worth of loans that GFH have put in - normal practice in today's footballing world
I dont really care about the result. It would nice to get something from the game as am a little worried we may get sucked into a relegation battle. With the squad we have would you even want promotion? We'd have to rebuild from scratch again for a Prem season and we all know that we won't spend the money
My point is they are changing tack again saying we have relative little debt. I note you carefully s]chose to disregard that part. Shame on you
Morning TC. Shouldn't your Posts be in mourning black? What happened to the 'Wall express? 5-1 to a bottom 3 side. How embarassing is that?
Well said doc, (and Good Morning btw) I like what you had to say about the green shoots of recovery, but the overall average age of the team must be 28 (anybody know any different) and I thought everyone did as well as expected against a strong Man City side, and could not see much room for improvement about from Lees and Byram. What the hell has happened about Drury? He was supposed to be the steal of the season?
Morning ristac Can't see it, his contract only has a few months remaining. Wouldn't it be interesting if Di Canio was spotted in the crowd ????
Leeds United owner GFH Capital last night confirmed that it had rejected outright the recent attempt to buy a majority stake in the club - and claimed funding was in place to support United without immediate and substantial investment. Responding to a series of questions submitted to it by the YEP, the Dubai-based firm appeared to rule out the possibility of a quick change of ownership at Elland Road by revealing it was unwilling to accept the offer made by a local consortium for a 51 per cent shareholding in Leeds. A representative of the Yorkshire-based group tabled their takeover bid a fortnight ago, seven weeks after GFH Capital completed its own buy-out of United chairman Ken Bates. Businessman Steve Parkin is believed to be involved in the consortium, with ex-Hull City chairman Adam Pearson also rumoured to be supporting the bid six years after fronting an unsuccessful attempt to purchase Leeds while the club were in administration. Executives of GFH Capital admitted over the weekend that the company was willing to sell a 30 per cent stake in United, raising fears that it was already under pressure to secure a major cash injection, but asked if United would face financial problems in the absence of investment, GFH Capital said: “No, it won’t. “While we have the funds to take the club forward without the need for additional investors, we are of the belief that building a strong consortium of strategic investors will better serve and protect, and build our great club.” GFH Capital also denied that the takeover offer submitted this month was still open to consideration, saying: “It has been rejected.”
