LOAN MOVE: Steve Morison has joined Millwall on a season-long loan. #lufc #fltransfer

Well, I am somewhat surprised by this. I knew BMD wasn't a big fan of his but still

Actually I have no idea why I didn't just post this on the other thread. A mod may as well move it over there

Striker Steve Morison has joined Millwall on a season-long loan - in a move that will enable boss Brian McDermott to complete the signing of Noel Hunt.

The 29-year-old, who joined the club last January from Norwich City, returns to a club he helped win promotion from League One in 2010.

Morison has made 16 appearances for United, since moving from Carrow Road, and he netted three goals, including both goals in the 2-2 draw at Crystal Palace in March.

The striker reported back for pre-season training at Thorp Arch on Thursday, but was in London on Friday, finalising the terms of his switch to Millwall.

Boss Brian McDermott told the club website: “I am looking to re-shape my squad for the new season and there was an offer on the table for Steve to go to a club that he has already played at it.

“He’s there for a year and he will be playing games, and due to the terms of the deal he can’t play against us.”

The incoming transfer of former Reading forward Hunt to Leeds has been waiting to be rubber-stamped for several weeks, with the 30-year-old’s wage demands reportedly around £12,000 a week.

By getting part of the wages of Morison - who is thought to be on a weekly wage in the region of £17,000 - off the club’s books, it effectively allows Hunt to come in.

Rumour here is saying we are paying £10k of his weekly wages to Leeds - still £5k too much <ok>
How the **** are you paying him £17K per week when Norwich were only paying him £12k?

The rumour is your paying all of his wages plus a quarter of a mil to loan him for the season ,with a view to signing him at the end of the season, plus point he can't score against us this season !!!

Blackburn agree to terminate the contract of Nuno Gomes with 12 months left to go on his contract. I thought this guy was meant to be a good striker.

He fits our requirements. He's 36!;)

Well, if he's off the wage bill (or at least partly) that means Hunt can join as the replacement forward, presumably. Now the problem is how the hell do we afford transfer fees...oh wait, we don't <doh>

The problem I have with this as well is that it shows last season was a complete farce and we never had any real intentions of getting promoted even when we were hovering around that 6th spot. It was written all over Warnock's face.

You sell a goalscorer who has knocked in 20+ for you and bring in someone who in all likelihood (considering what's happened now) does not even want to play for you. <steam>

Make the best of it mate, its as good as were likely to see, better get used to it. If were to trust McD, and theres no reason why we shouldn't, he clearly rates Hunt having managed him before and thinks Morrisson is ****e. I dare say anyone would be better than Morrisson, so for me, if we forget the Becchio farce, it's a decent bit of business

To be honest, maybe it's for the best. I get the feeling Morrison is a bit of a pussy. We want players who want to wear the shirt and can handle the pressure that comes with it. That's one thing you can say about Bechio. He loved the fans and thrived on it. Morrison couldn't lace his boots in that respect. We are probably well shot of him. Let's just hope he scores a few for Milwall and we can recoup some cash for him at the end of the season.

Thats kind of what I'm thinking but its bad business. Bad business that stems back to the Becchio swap deal. Swap Becchio for Hunt? No chance. Morrison was a bit of an wild card in respect to it would work or it wouldnt, and McDermott clearly thinks its the latter so it just seems a waste.

McDermott has seen more of both of them than me though and I just hope its not a juggling act to get a big earner of the plate and bring someone in for less. Unless Hunt is a hit of course, then its a stroke of genius <ok>

Why do you always pull figures like these out your arse?

You keep going on saying we was paying Chris Wood 30K and week and then its was revealed you offered him more money then us

Then we offered more money for Harry Kane then you

TC face it. Loans are the only way decent players are going to sign for Millwall

Good glad to see him go. Hopefully we can get rid of Brown now and free up money for wages.

Expect we'll make him a perm signing next year strach but we should have told you that he has to be available to play against you in both games or else as you needed us to help you free up some wage cash more than we needed you! <doh>

Have to respectfully disagree Eire as the fact is despite the obvious baggage that came with Moro that we've mentioned before, he knows where the goal is. <ok>
