is the fact that there is a real possibility that all 10 of the outfield players that started tonight's game will not be at the club next season. Loans, short term contracts, contracts ending and Barton buggering off to France means that the rebuilding process no matter what league we are in is going to be immense.
If we do get promoted, and its a big if at the moment, we have the same problem as last time. Swansea and Norwich went up last time and kept the basis of their squad we couldn't because we had older players. That will be a worry again.
I see that as a good thing. Not one single player out there I'm desperate to keep. Only players we own I'd like to keep is Remy and Taarabt. We need to rebuild and we need the patience to do it. And I agree Redknapp might not be the right manager to do it.
We won't be starting from complete scratch. Green. Onouha, Simpson, Traore, Hoillett, Philips, Austin, Barton, Remy, Adel, M'Bia can all play in the Prem.
In the Prem? I'm surprised at your optimism after tonight mate Agree though that we have players to build a new team around. Onuoha, Simpson, Phillips and Austin will be key regardless of division.
I said it from the start, oaps, loans and stop gaps. We are screwed even if we go up with 15 new players yet again with the possibility of zero team spirit, We've got very few players I d want to keep, Hoilett, Austin, Traore, Yun, philips,Onuoha, Simpson, faurlin. All of the rest can go.
If there is anyone still out there that wants to be promoted playing like we are - if so I salute your optimism. Lots of possession, but little or no final product - a pretty uninspiring display all round. The teams we play often seem to have more desire, even if they are less skillful - hunger and effort go a long way in this division.
I would extend this to all thirteen of the outfield players that we used yesterday irrespective of which division we are playing in. Of our currently contracted players I can only think of a few that i would like to see at The Bush next season.
Its very true that we are not balanced I cannot understand why we continually start with defensive line ups at all away games. After their displays against Burnley I could not believe Traore and Hoilet did not start. Surely its better to get sides on the back foot from the start instead of letting them have loads of possession and getting the crowd behind them. Derby were poor in the second half and we had loads of the ball yet could do nothing with it. For me it is time to have a good go and attack sides and then if it goes wrong at least we tried I cannot recall Spuds playing defensive at all when HR was there. We have a good run in up to the last three games so we could be in a good position by the time we play Forest. Trying to stay positive but so disappointed we did not win the last two.
