Oliver Kay, Times Sports Correspondant, had this to say last night on twitter: 'Told no #LFC deal with #NUFC for Jose Enrique yet. Other clubs interested.'

he's pretty reliable I believe, tends to post teams news etc. long before anyone else. Cant decide if this is good news or not, but by the sounds of it a deal with at least one club is likely

"No deal has been with Liverpool"

Good. Phil Thompson deserves to be discredited.

    "Other clubs interested"

Of course they will be. He's played really well this year and the LB position is a tricky one for many clubs to fill.

    Let's keep the faith.

I really hope we can show Jose enough ambition to keep him here. Legend in the making.

At the end of the day it's in Jose interests to wait till the summer and see who we bring in.

Yes he can go pretty much anywhere, but with the right purchases we could be challenging at the right end of the premiership next year, which is pretty good place to be plying your trade.

If we don't spend money or bring in just Southampton players then yes he'll be off.

So all talk of a deal being done now or before the summer is just ar$e-water!

  5. Deal done and interest from other clubs is different. Interest means **** all.

Its no surprise that there are other clubs interested in him, he is one of the best left backs in the world.

I think we need to work very hard to show him that this is the best place for him. I think it is still 50/50. I just hope we can go out and spend 15 million on a quality striker and make a real statement. I think this and a couple of other good additions could convince Jose his best years are ahead of him on Tyneside.

    Greetings all from Vietnam.

I think others have said this before but I wouldn't begrudge Jose a move to a Champions League club, here or abroad. If Manchester United were to come in for him I would be shocked by the move BUT if he were to move to Liverpool I would be really annoyed. More of a sideways step in my opinion. They may push next season but they won't be in the top 4 - Spurs and Man City will strengthen further and still be ahead of them. Top Six side at best.

If he moves to a big Champions League club, probably in Spain, then I wouldn't mind so much.

But if he moves to frigging Liverpool!! grrrr

Sod it, I take it back. I'll just be annoyed if he moves full stop.

Can't we just dress Perch up as Jose, fly him to Liverpool, sign the deal and then they can have him?

I wish Jose still had Twitter or Facebook. I used to enjoy seeing his postings. Made him seem like more of a human being. Without them, he's just a faceless and unpredictable player to me now - like the rest of them.

He did used to make a huge effort on these things though to interact with fans. He even gave people access to his Facebook and ended up adding thousands of people (before deleting it when it got too much I imagine). Hopefully he appreciates all the support he receives and doesn't forget it.

Phil Thompson you lying ****. Did nobody tell him lying makes your nose get longer? I suppose nobody would really notice it though, it would be like sticking a cocktail umbrella on the Eiffel Tower.

I bet those "other clubs" include Spurs. <grr>

Phil Thomsons a lying ****, desperate to get attention because he's sunk so low only Norway are willing to allow him on TV, so he makes up bs to try and act like he knows something when in fact he knows **** all. <grr>

I wouldn't begrudge him a move to a top Serie A, Bundesliga or La Liga club, but if he went to another PL club, even worse Liverpool, I'd be pretty disappointed.

Stay with us until Barca come calling Jose, you know its the best option.

I don't ever ever ever want him to leave.

But unless we're a regular Champions League team within a few years, I doubt he'll stay. Which I can't blame him for.
Can't see this happening of course.

I cant understand why so many people are expecting him to go. Both Enrique and Pardew have openly said they will talk when we are safe, Phil Thompson doesnt know his arse from his elbow so why on earth he would be confirming transfer deals is beyond me, more so than the fact people actually believe him. And now, the club have confirmed there have been no talks whatsoever with Liverpool. I would be disappointed if he left, but could understand if he wanted CL football, but by no means do I actually expect him to go.

Also Thompson said according to his sources, no decent evidence to prove that it is a done deal or will happen.

No doubt teams are interested, but with no deal apparantly been struck yet i'm happy.
