Just an observation from work yestetday. We had a "wear your sports kit for sports relief" day. I work at a Primary schools in Hull and I ws surprised to see how many kids came in Hull City shirts (present and old ones).

I only came across one Utd shirt, one Liverpool and somebody in Chelsea shorts. Reason I say this is because when I was back at Primary school like 12 years ago, all my mates supported Man Utd or Liverpool or Arsenal. No City shirts in sight.

Are more kids supporting City now? Do we put this change down t the success of the club?

    Thoughts?

(Apologises for any mistakes, on my way to the match and typing on my phone)

I agree. From just walking around the city you do seem to see a lot least top 4 shirts.

shame its to expensive for under 16's to turn up at football without there parents anymore, used to be loads of different gangs of kids for the better games before...in the old fashioned kops it was the 12 to 22 age range in the main singing the songs, creating atmosphere etc..

It's great to see. You see kids in Leeds wearing City shirts these days, could we ever have foreseen that ?

    Let's hope so.

Previous generations have been blighted by defecting weak-minded individuals who followed the silverware.

Now the chickens are coming home to roost and how!

There are still too many youngsters being groomed by their perverted dads so the weakness passes down to another generation.

I reckon it will be another twenty years like the last five before we cleanse Hull of this plague and create an environment where supporting a non local team will be seen as freakish and laughable by all.

Aye, that's a good point. I have long theorised that the lack of atmosphere was due to more people going to games as family groups these days.

Think we had a thread about your first game and plenty of people said they first went to city with their family and they are still doing that in their 20's. I don't get that.

Back in the day you'd start going with your old man, then as soon as you could, about 12, you'd be going down with your mates. This would be the case until you start taking your own kids.

Like you say, it's these groups that would make most of the noise and create the atmosphere. You feel the big man with a gang of your mates, bit of a lippy bastard even. Getting up to stuff you'd never consider with your family around.

Mr Stewart.....we need to bring a younger family member / relative with us those who have one or two

The 2 junior tigers had been to a couple of rovers games in the past but are now HULL CITY mad And don't like rugby anymore

    :)

Take your brother / sister / son / daughter / cousin / nephew etc those who can..

Sometimes you look around and realise a generation or 2 is missing..

PS...I never went today but juniors went with there. Mum....there mum liked the game but said she's never going in e1 again

    Lol

Why does this thread had a green arrow next to it on the homepage but all the others have that logo of a piece of paper?

I go with my parents. Hardly any of my mates really support City properly. A lot of them used to go when we were younger but don't bother now.

My youngest's school in Leeds has a similar sports kit day for Comic Relief on Friday as well and there were three City kits on display.

And this is what the club should be spending more time on, encouraging the supporters of the future.

Not all the mind blowing name change ****
