.. A serious injury to USA international Lynden Gooch overshadowed Sunderland’s PremierLeague 2 draw against basement side Spurs at Eppleton. Gooch was stretchered off shortly before the half-hour after suffering an injury to his left ankle following an awkward landing. And boss David Moyes – who was watching from the stand – will be hoping that Gooch does not become the latest member of his squad to endure a lengthy lay-off. The Black Cats raced into a two-goal lead before half-time thanks to goals from George Honeyman and Adnan Januzaj, only to let it slip as Shilow Tracey scored either side of the interval for the Londoners. Andy Welsh’s starting XI included first-teamers Januzaj, Gooch and Donald Love , with Moyes joined in the stand by the club’s newly-appointed chief football officer Simon Wilson – who does not officially take up his role until January. Honeyman gave Sunderland the lead on 11 minutes, capitalising on the Black Cats’ first serious attack. Josh Maja headed down a right-wing cross at the far post, and when the Spurs defence hesitated Honeyman was on hand to smash home from six yards. Sunderland keeper Mika denied Tracey with his feet just before the 20-minute mark after the striker had found himself with a clear sight of goal. The Black Cats doubled their lead five minutes before the break when a clearance from Maja found Januzaj on the halfway line and he ran half the length of the field, leaving two defenders trailing in his wake before finishing low past Pau Lopez. But Spurs pulled a goal back two minutes into the six minutes added on by referee Martin Coy due to Gooch’s’ injury. ****ing hell that's bad news. This must be the worst season for injuries ever and they're all in the most important area of the pitch, centre mid. He looks a tough lad, fingers crossed for him and us that he recovers well. I've suggested before that a factor in all these injuries could be Moyes' training methods but Tel made a good point that it's more likely to do with Allardyce patching things up with short term solutions that we're paying for now. Not saying Gooch's injury is Sam's fault of course but I think someone or something is to blame for the current injury epidemic.

Bad news on Gooch but what is it with this club and miscommunication.? I thought Adnan Januzaj was crocked last week and would be out for a couple of months yet he played in this game. Wtf?
Januzij Is slowly being introduced after his spell out injured He should be up and running for this Saturday If he can get a start probably he will come on from the bench if needed. That's of course we don't have anymore injuries.
****ing right! It's not like we don't have cover in that position - it's just EVERYONE is injured!! Think we have 5 players capable and they've just about all been injured all season! Majority of the injuries seem to have happened during games - there are very few training ground injuries which is more bad luck than anything - how do you reckon any other wannabe (or current) mid table team would do without being able to play their first choice or second choice or possibly even third choice midfield duo? Not sure they'd do well!
Isn't this going to be one of the responsibilities of the new bloke we're bringing in? player fitness/performance/injuries - we clearly need help!
Not sure I buy the current injury list down to BSA - I think its just bad luck - Januzaj not with him and don't think probs with Gooch Cats Borini etc are all down to him. Conspiracy theories by those not fans of BSA. But we move on and hopefully recover in style post Christmas starting on Jan 2 against the Kloppites in a cauldron of mackem sound at the SOL KTF

I struggle to accept that it's just bad luck, there's always an explanation for things in my experience. Might be a combination of a bit of short term patching up by Sam, which needed doing to be fair, and us signing injury prone players. When Kirchhoff gets stretchered off you can't say it's bad luck, it's our fault for gambling with signing a talented crock. If someone wipes out one of our players and injures them then that's an example of bad luck but there are too many out injured for it to be such a simple explanation for all of them.
It's a very funny series about a slightly odd family with an extremely odd neighbour . . . . clips seem to be very difficult to find, suggesting that it must be popular, so I can't give you much more info.
Don't you read the sun? He's director of football man despite the club making it abundantly clear that his role is nothing like dof. (But I think you're right from what I've read)
Could be right -injury prone players but I think it's just an unfortunate series of reasons - the fitness levels are so high in the modern game and pace of game so quick and failure is not accepted well by fans unless it's backed up by total commitment - it's the less committed players that end up injured -tackle half hearted and you get injured in my experience But moving on I think Moyes is growing into the mackem magic of Sunderland - he sounded less dour in his post-match comments after Liverpool game - still dour but more positive Hopefully he'll very happy in a dourful-way after we slay the Foxes -lol
