I went to a Humanist wedding. It's the only wedding I ever attended that was even remotely enjoyable. Beats the religious style ceremonies where ye spend all yer time counting the seconds till ye can get the **** out of there.
i went to one once and it was a bit flowery for my liking - too much "we are all in this marriage together" and all that guff give me that old time religion!!
You can choose the bits yourself. The guy who did ours said that he liked to include an native American blessing - sent us it to read - after pishing ourselves over it for a wee while, we decided no spiritualist crap. We pretty much wrote the whole thing ourselves - nothing about anything except me, the missus and how much we love each other - over in 15 mins and then intae the swallying
Gargled some ****. I wisnae paying attention. There was an absolute wee honey of a clarsach player at my wedding and she was getting swatched silly. Pretty much had to pull one of my ushers aff her That lassie has no clue how close she came to being found knickerless in a skip.
A senior Catholic Bishop in Scotland has stunned equal rights campaigners by suggesting that if the Scottish Government truly believed in equality it would make incest and polygamy legal. Hugh Gilbert, the Catholic Bishop of Aberdeen who said he âlovedâ gay people told the Scottish Catholic Observer: âWhy is it alright for a man to marry another man, but not alright for him to marry two women? If we really want equality, why does that equality not extend to nieces who genuinely, truly love their uncles?â Surprisingly he went on to suggest that he has some experience of incest within Aberdeen: âAnd, if you say that such things donât happen, that they are mere freaks of nature, extreme examples dreamed up for the sake of argument, I say you need to spend more time in*the parish.â The bishop did say that he will continue to work for gay people, just not marry them: âAs Bishop of Aberdeen, I know there are gay people amongst the community of the Church. I promise I will always respect and love them and uphold them in their relationship with the God who loves them. But I wonât marry them. It just canât be done.â He added: âThe truth is that a government can pass any legislation it likes, it can legislate to say that everything with four legs is a table, even when itâs a dog and not a horse, but that wonât make it so.â Tim Hopkins, director of Equality Network, said: âWe are very disappointed the Bishop of Aberdeen should choose to com**pare same-sex marriage to polygamy and incest. That is offensive and uncalled for.â Earlier this year, the head of the Catholic Church in Scotland, Cardinal Keith Michael Patrick OâBrien, said that gay marriage is a âgrotesque subversion of a universally accepted human rightâ. He suggested that same sex marriage will lead to three way marriages and compared the governmentâs support for equality to legalising slavery. Writing in the Sunday Telegraph he said: âTheir attempt to redefine reality is given a polite hearing, their madness is indulged. Their proposal represents a grotesque subversion of a universally accepted human*right.â
