Mick is just spot on time and time again! We are so lucky to have him here! McCarthy believes that expectations can be too high at some clubs in the Championship: âThe leagueâs full of big clubs, thatâs a sad fact of life. Weâre talking about managers getting the sack, theyâve all got delusions of grandeur, they think they should be in the Premier League. âI think a desire or a want to be there is different to thinking they should be there. And I get that sense here, that they want us to be a success, our fans want us to be in the Premier League, they all know itâs the golden goose, but I donât get that nonsense from people talking about Bobby Robsonâs teams or ex-players and all that, âThey were the greatsâ¦â. âWe know they were, but theyâre too old to play now, so thereâs no point in talking about them. I donât get that here, whereas Iâve had it at other clubs. Sunderland, Wolves think itâs almost like divine right to be in there because theyâre âa big clubâ. And yet weâre a big club, I think we were the fourth best supported in the league on Saturday.â
To be honest JWM he looked a bit miserable on the tele Saturday night. He seemed a bit out of sorts...
I would be fairly sure Pershore that's because he wants to be managing Town in the top flight. And he's right, a season where we don't flirt with relegation or lose strong players to free transfers is a step forward. I am feeling a sense of pride in the shirt from the players and staff re-emerging.
Agree with you Hamps about the players showing more pride.I think it's best exemplified by Chambers playing at right back.Mick Mills tried to say on the radio that he looked unhappy at being played out of position but to my mind he seems happy playing for the team where required. If the back four keep a clean sheet and he can chip in with the odd goal all the better.
Further to chambers, I did read a couple of days ago he's happy to play at right back if that's where MM wants him although centre back would be preferred. All for the cause. Could there be a sense of more pride due to the lack of loanees. Back to the thread. Mick as we know is good for a sound bite or 2 but interesting quotes and I'd say on the money.
Not going to lie but if the press ask a player are you happy for the manager to play you there, he's not going to say no is he?? Saying that, the team ethic we've got is probably the best since the Burley days. Very good man manager Mick, infact one of the best, although he does have limitations in other areas
I tell you what, McCarthy doesn't half sound bloody miserable these days. He doesn't sound like a man to inspire a big victory. I almost wish he could have been in the stands for the last five years so he can see how well he's doing.
