Following the news of Klugs reappointment and the signing of Luke Chambers, even more news could be around the corner: http://www.twtd.co.uk/news.php?storyid=21028&title=scowy_and_foley_to_join_academy These is the type of people we need running the academy alongside Klug and can surely only aid the development of our young players?
Great news! So good to see we are building for the future with people that have a passion for the club - hopefully this will rub off on the players coming through so they get a real sense of pride wearing the shirt!
Whilst because they used to play for the club or been at the club before doesn't neccessarily mean they are going to be the best coaches it is good to see as they know the history and traditions of the club something that we lost under the last regime who wanted anything associated with the old traditions of town out which unfortunately left us nothing to fall back on. It will hopefully mean whatever happens our players will be blooded in the Ipswich way and we can start to rebuild our reputation even though we won't have a Category 1 academy. Although from what I've seen and heard I think Foley is a decent coach and Scowie seems to talk alot of sense. It also indicates with the return of Klug and Foley that it seems the manager has had control over appointments otherwise I doubt they would have returned. Its a shame I thought Jim had put a fairly decent team of coaches together in his time here. In the past we have had rubbish teams but been able to fall back on our reputation and academy to rebuild unfortunately we lost that abit initially when Evans came in but Keane took it to the next level, which is why we have struggled so much to attract the right sort of player IMO and struggled so much in the past couple of seasons. Whilst I'm still not overly optimistic about next season it appears the club finally appear to be going in the right direction.
